MATT Suckling's troublesome Achilles will see the veteran defender spend up to another month on the sidelines.

The 29-year-old hasn't played since the round 11 loss to Melbourne, and he was a late withdrawal from last weekend's win over Geelong after developing soreness in the warm up.

Bulldogs medical services manager Chris Bell told westernbulldogs.com.au the club wouldn't be taking any chances with the defensive playmaker.

"Although Matt ticked all of our boxes last week in the return from his Achilles injury, I'm afraid that pre-game he had a flare up of his symptoms and we were required to withdraw him from the game," medical services manager Chris Bell told westernbulldogs.com.au.

"We're going to be really cautious with our approach with Suckers and make sure we get some continuity in his training and look for him to return in the next three to four weeks."

THINGS WE LEARNED The Bulldogs have a beauty

The man who took Suckling's place in the Dogs' line up, Lin Jong, is also set for a month in the rehab group after he underwent surgery on a broken collarbone sustained in the first quarter.

"Unfortunately, 'Jongy' landed on his shoulder in the first quarter of the game on the weekend, (and) this has caused the collarbone to break," Bell said.

"Lin's had surgery this afternoon to stabilise the fracture and we expect him to miss the next four to six weeks."

Fourth-year wingman Bailey Dale will now miss the remainder of the season with a foot stress injury that developed following the round 10 loss to Collingwood.

The club will take a cautious approach with the 21-year-old's recovery.

"We've been really conservative in our management of Bailey Dale following his stress injury to the navicular bone in his foot,” Bell said.

"We've monitored him really closely, but scans have confirmed that he's not responding well and we are going to have to go down the surgical path.

"We're going to put a screw into his navicular bone which is going to rule him out for the rest of the season."

In more positive news for the Dogs, forward Caleb Daniel will likely be available to play this weekend after recovering from knee soreness that saw him miss the clash with Cats.

Ruckman Tim English will also return to full training this week as he continues his recovery from a foot injury that has sidelined him since the round seven win over Gold Coast.
