AFL General Counsel Andrew Dillon today said the North Melbourne and Collingwood Football Clubs had both been sanctioned for breaching the AFL Player Rules.
Mr Dillon said the AFL’s Investigation Manager Ken Wood had determined that both clubs had breached the List Lodgement Rules by failing to lodge details of Unlisted Player(s) training with their Clubs.
He said North Melbourne had been sanctioned $30,000, with $10,000 of that sanction suspended until October 31 this year, for three players training with the club. The club had voluntarily disclosed its breach, fully co-operated with the investigation and other mitigating factors were taken into account in determining the sanction.
Collingwood was sanctioned $20,000, with $10,000 of that sanction suspended until October 31 this year, for one player training with the club. The club had fully co-operated with the investigation and other mitigating factors were taken into account in determining the sanction.
