RUCKMAN Scott Lycett will ramp up contract talks with West Coast after the club's mid-season bye as the Eagles lobby to retain three free agents.
Sitting behind Jeremy McGovern and Andrew Gaff in the club's list of priorities, Lycett will be a restricted free agent at season's end.
Preliminary talks have started between Lycett's management and the Eagles, however both parties agreed it was best to hold off until later in the season after an injury interrupted 2017.
The 25-year-old has played all 10 matches this year after two shoulder setbacks last year limited him to one game.
With Nic Naitanui returning, Lycett has played a combination of forward/ruck this year as the Eagles' No.2 big man.
GAFF'S CALL Flag prospects will play a part
He was among their best players in his sole game as the No.1 ruckman against Greater Western Sydney in round eight with Naitanui missing through suspension.
Lycett's continuity is seeing his value rise by the week as clubs search for genuine ruckmen who can play a role as a forward.
As a restricted free agent, West Coast would have the ability to match any offer for Lycett from a rival club.
The former South Australian, who played SANFL for Port Adelaide prior to heading west, said negotiations remained ongoing.
"My managers Colin Young and Andrew McDougall are in negotiations with the club at the moment," Lycett told ABC.
"(I) haven't put off talks with the club or anything like that."
With the Eagles having won nine consecutive matches, Lycett said his decision may be made easier with a winning culture.
"We're just getting it sorted and as long as we're winning that's all that matters at the moment," he said.
"When you win nine in a row it's a pretty good environment to be around."
West Coast hosts St Kilda this Saturday night at Optus Stadium.
