THE DISAPPOINTMENT of losing the WNBL Grand Final with the Melbourne Boomers has Western Bulldogs midfielder Monique Conti "hungry" to win a premiership in the NAB AFL Women's competition.
The dual-sports star was part of the Boomers team that lost to the Townsville Fire in a three-game WNBL finals series just over two weeks ago.
Conti, selected fourth in last year's NAB AFLW Draft, made her Bulldogs debut last Sunday, collecting 14 disposals in an encouraging performance in the 26-point win over Fremantle.
"It was sad to lose [in the WNBL], but that experience was amazing," Conti said.
"It makes me hungry for some wins and to get out there … hopefully the team can go all the way and we end up with a great result."
Bulldogs coach Paul Groves said Conti was capable of producing some "freakish things" and believes she will be better placed to produce that type of football with more experience.
The 18-year-old agreed with her coach after getting rid of the nerves in her first AFLW game.
After working her football commitments around the WNBL competition in the pre-season, the 165cm midfielder then had four football training sessions in the lead up-to the match against the Dockers after switching out of basketball mode following the defeat.
Conti said she had a lot to work on following her first game at AFLW level.
"It's out of the way … now, it's on to game two," Conti said.
"[I'm hoping to] see if I can keep bringing more of my own game. That will hopefully come.
"There's a little bit more to show - I could take the game on a little more, and kick better for goal. It's all going to come in the end."
