BRISBANE Lions AFL Women’s CEO Breeanna Brock has been named the 2018 Football Woman of the Year.
The award recognises a woman who has made a "significant, positive and measurable impact to the advancement of women in the game of Australian rules football".
Brock was presented with the award by the Essendon women's network at a club function in Melbourne on Thursday.
In Brock's time in charge, the Lions have been to successive Grand Finals (losing both by just six points) and grown AFLW-related revenue.
"Breanna brings a deep understanding of the game through a long career in Australian football and inspires others through her passion for female participation in the game," Essendon women's network chairperson Karen Cusac said.
"She has been integral to driving the success of Brisbane’s AFLW team.
"She is the only female CEO at an AFL club and continues a long line of strong and influential women who champion the role of women in football."
East Fremantle (WAWFL) women's coach Nikki Harwood was presented with the VicHealth community award, while Amy Dwyer, a football development officer in the ACT, won the GO Healthy emerging leader award.
