GEELONG'S new elite performance manager Michael Poulton has left the Cats just six months after joining the club from the AFL.

Poulton had been a member of the League's football department in the role of competition and stakeholder manager before taking on the position at Geelong.

His position at the Cats also included being development manager, where it was expected he would work closely with new director of football Simon Lloyd.

However, he left the club on Monday after parting ways.

Poulton's previous position at the AFL included developing the level-four course that helps prepare coaches for senior positions.

He had also worked with the AFL Coaches Association.
