SYDNEY veteran Heath Grundy and midfielder Zak Jones look set to play their first games of the season when the Swans take on the Giants on Friday night.
Grundy (calf) and Jones (knee) have had an interrupted pre-season, but have both trained strongly in recent weeks in a good sign for the Swans' list.
Jones seems most likely to play in the JLT Community Series clash against GWS at Blacktown, while Grundy could join him or work his way back through the reserves in Friday's curtain-raiser.
The news isn't as positive for tall duo Aliir Aliir and Callum Sinclair, who are unlikely to be available after suffering ankle injuries in last week's big win over Brisbane.

Sinclair and Aliir both came off early against the Lions and while neither injury appears to be serious, Sydney assistant coach Steve Johnson said no risks would be taken this close to the beginning of the season proper.
"You can't come in and play a full game without having much of a preparation, so we just have to monitor their minutes and the intensity they play at," he said.
"There's still a couple of weeks until round one so hopefully they're fully fit by then."
Midfielder Dan Hannebery (calf) took part in some of the session without extending himself, but Jarrad McVeigh (calf) trained away from the main group as both stars continue their push to be ready for the Swans' season opener against West Coast in Perth.
