PORT Adelaide could welcome back dangerous forward Chad Wingard for Showdown 44 with Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

Wingard – who missed last weekend's loss to West Coast with a hamstring injury – moved freely during the Power's training session on Wednesday morning.

Wingard completed the entire warm-up, including a series of sprints, and a kicking drill before the session was closed to the media.

The 24-year-old injured his left hamstring in the Power's round six win against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

Wingard felt pain in his hamstring when he took a mark Inside 50, but went back and kicked the goal before leaving the ground.

"Chad got through the whole session," Power assistant coach Brendon Lade told reporters on Wednesday.

"It will be how he pulls up and what the medicos say about him, but he trained pretty well so we'll wait and see.

"Chad is a super competitive person, likes to play well in big games, so if he does play, hopefully he can play well."

Winger Karl Amon was also involved in the training session after he was concussed from a tackle by West Coast ruckman Nic Naitanui last weekend.

The Power usually have a day off on Wednesdays, but changed their routine this week so players and staff could attend the funeral of Todd Marshall's father Robert, who died on April 23.

The funeral was held in the town of Deniliquin, located in the NSW Riverina region, on Tuesday.

Marshall has been granted indefinite leave away from football since his father's death as the Power rally around the popular 19-year-old forward.

"We had his father's funeral yesterday and 15 from the club went, which is a great result and shows how much impact Todd's had at the club, but also his family," Lade said.

"To pay our respects yesterday was great for us to do that.

"Hopefully he comes back for this weekend, we think he is coming back to watch the game and then he can start integrating back into our systems.

"He's been training up at home, back at local footy, which has been great for him as well."
