THE BLUES have taken their whole group on the road for the second time this pre-season, relocating to Tasmania for a five-day camp training camp.

The players touched down in Hobart on Monday afternoon and didn't waste any time with a twilight training session at Kingborough Twin Ovals in Kingston.

They'll combine training with team bonding activities over the course of this week, with an open session scheduled for Wednesday morning at North Hobart Oval.

The camp will allow the Blues to familiarise themselves with the Apple Isle ahead of their two matches fixtured there this year.

First, they'll face Hawthorn at Launceston's University of Tasmania Stadium, where they last played in 2016, in a JLT Community Series game on March 10.

Then, they'll line up against North Melbourne at Hobart's Blundstone Arena in round four in what will be the club's inaugural home-and-away game at the venue.

Coach Brendon Bolton hails from Tasmania and had a successful playing career in his home state, which included being captain/coach of North Hobart in the club's premiership-winning year of 2003.

Defender Liam Jones, who will speak to the media on Wednesday, and ruckman Andrew Phillips are also from Tasmania. Jones played for North Hobart as a junior, and Phillips for Lauderdale.

The trip to Hobart follows the Blues' December venture to Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

The shortened nature of their Maroochydore camp compared to previous years has allowed for their second interstate trip ahead of their AFLX debut on February 16.

The club's youngsters also visited Tasmania's Bruny Island for a gruelling two-night camp in December where they were tested physically and mentally.

Recent draftees Paddy Dow, Lochie O'Brien, Tom De Koning, Angus Schumacher and Jarrod Garlett, plus Sam Petrevski-Seton, Kym LeBois, Jarrod Pickett and Cillian McDaid, attended the tough team bonding camp.

Given the Blues' high player turnover rate in recent years, interstate training camps have been a focus as they attempt to strengthen the relationships among the new-look group.
