PATRICK Dangerfield has had a scan on his injured hamstring but the Geelong superstar's result won't become clear until Wednesday morning. 

Cats medicos are set to discuss the results overnight on Tuesday. 

Dangerfield told reporters at GMHBA Stadium he had "absolutely nothing to tell you," but still happily took questions for several minutes. 

"It was only 24 hours ago so it really hasn't changed too much," he said.

"To be honest the results of the scan might take a few hours before they get back to our doc, so I guess I'll have to wait."

The midfielder injured his hamstring in the first quarter of Geelong's four-point loss to Essendon in Colac on Sunday and remains hopeful of lining up against Melbourne on March 25.

"It feels OK today. Hopefully the progression is better and better and better and (I'm) a chance for next week, but who knows?" he said.

Fellow superstar Gary Ablett is also a batting a hamstring injury ahead of the Cats' season-opener against the Demons.

"I'll probably be Dr Google for the next couple of weeks. No update on Gaz," Dangerfield said.

"He looks good at training as he always does, so we'll have to wait until next week I suppose."
