VETERAN West Coast defender Sharrod Wellingham's AFL future won’t be decided until after the NAB AFL Trade Period.
Eagles list manager Brady Rawlings confirmed on NAB AFL Trade Radio on Tuesday morning that the out-of-contract former Magpie's career was in limbo.
Wellingham played 13 games this year and only four after round nine, although one of them was West Coast's season-ending semi-final defeat to Greater Western Sydney.
The 29-year-old defender has played 171 matches and kicked 71 goals since Collingwood selected him in the 2007 rookie draft. He has spent the past five seasons at the Eagles.
"Sharrod's out of contract, so we'll go into this Trade Period and see what happens," Rawlings said.
"We'll reassess at the end of the Trade Period whether we look to go with Sharrod for one more year or not."
Midfielder Chris Masten, who has two years to run on his contract, also spent time in the WAFL this season after a mid-season form slump.
But Rawlings said no rival clubs had shown interest in the No.3 pick from the 2007 NAB AFL Draft.
"We've still got high hopes that Chris can get back to his best, so we'll be backing him in to get back to his best football (next) year," he said.
West Coast's only confirmed trade target this fortnight is wantaway Port Adelaide onballer Brendon Ah Chee, who has nominated the Eagles as his preferred destination.
Rawlings ruled out a trade for Collingwood forward Alex Fasolo, who was linked to a move back to his home state, but was keen to improve the club's first draft pick from No.13.
Ah Chee, who turns 24 in December, won the Port Adelaide Magpies' SANFL best and fairest award this season, but managed only four senior games.
He also finished runner-up in the SANFL's Magarey Medal and Rawlings said he would help fill the void of retired pair Matt Priddis and Sam Mitchell.
"We see Brendon as an inside mid who can go forward and have some impact," Rawlings said.
"We probably thought we could do with another experienced type through (the midfield) to complement some of the youth we'll be bringing through.
"Hopefully we can work through something with Port Adelaide to get a deal done there.
"Outside of that we're pretty quiet. We really rate the draft this year, and we're in a position where we'd like to rejuvenate our list and we see us doing that through the draft period."
