ADELAIDE superstar Eddie Betts will miss Sunday's clash with Collingwood at the MCG after having his appendix removed.
In a video posted on Instagram on Monday, Betts was confident he would return for next weekend's massive Showdown with cross-town rivals Port Adelaide.
"I'm all good, surgery went well, appendix taken out so recovering well," Betts said.
"This is my first game missed for the Crows and I'll be back next week."
The livewire small forward watched Adelaide's SANFL game against Norwood at Coopers Stadium on Sunday before becoming ill.
"Eddie felt unwell on Sunday evening and was sent to hospital," Crows medical officer Dr Marc Cesana told the club's website.
"He will not play this weekend as he recovers from surgery and the cub will continue to monitor his health before a decision is made on his availability."
Last Friday night's 21-point win over Geelong at Adelaide Oval was Betts' 100th consecutive game.
He hasn't missed a game since joining the Crows at the end of 2013.
His absence will force a restructure of the Crows' forward line, with Riley Knight able to play in attack, while Jono Beech or Troy Menzel could also get their chance.
"It's a significant out, he's a sensational small forward," Crows assistant coach Matthew Clarke said of Betts.
"It provides opportunity, there's been a number of guys in the SANFL playing good, consistent football, but that small forward role is one which Riley Knight played a different role last week, he's been in that position for a number of weeks.
"It will probably involve a reshuffle, whether it's a like for like swap or if someone fills the role."
The Crows are also likely to be without midfielder Brad Crouch, who fractured his cheekbone against the Cats.
Crouch will have surgery in the next 48 hours.
"The medicos will make the call in terms of what his best management is, it hasn't been determined yet," Clarke said.
But in better news, key defender Jake Lever (hamstring) and winger Wayne Milera (calf) trained on the weekend to put themselves in the mix.
"Lever was close with minor hamstring tightness, but not available, so hopefully he might be available this week," Clarke said.
A message from Eddie
