BIG-NAME recruit Daniel Wells will make his first appearance for Collingwood this week after finally getting over his troublesome calf problems.

Wells, 32, has struggled in his first pre-season since leaving North Melbourne, but Magpies football manager Geoff Walsh told collingwoodfc.com.au the onballer will definitely play at some level this weekend.

"He has joined in the last three or four sessions. We expect him to get through this week and he will be available for selection this week," Walsh said.

"It is a matter for the match committee whether they select him at AFL or VFL level."

Jordan De Goey will also be available to play in the VFL against Coburg on Saturday afternoon at Piranha Park.

After breaking his hand in a St Kilda bar fight last month, De Goey will now serve his three-game club-imposed suspension and be available for senior selection in round seven against Carlton.

"Pending a specialist's report on his hand, we also are hopeful that Jordan will be declared fit to go by the end of this week," Walsh said.

The club is unsure when Tom Langdon will be fit as he struggles with a knee injury.

"Tommy's had a series of injections in his troublesome knee. That course will be completed this week and we're hopeful that two or three weeks of some training will see Tom turn the corner," Walsh said.

"It's a bit hard right at the moment to put an exact timeframe on Tommy's situation but we're just hoping that the course of treatment that he is finishing up today (on Monday) will enable him to get some traction on the track and put some sessions together. Then, we will be able to judge how well he is going."

Midfielder Brayden Sier has not been seen at any level for the past two weeks.

"Brayden Sier, who played two weeks ago and missed with some general soreness last week, we expect him to train fully this week and, again, he'll be available after missing just one week after an extended period on the sidelines."
