SPEEDY utility Jacob Allison is one of seven players to extend their contracts with the Brisbane Lions. 

After an encouraging first year in the AFL, in which he played the final five games of the season, Allison has signed on until the end of 2020. 

He is joined by Archie Smith, Oscar McInerney and Corey Lyons, who have all extended until the end of 2019, and Mitch Hinge, Jake Barrett and Matt Eagles, who will be at the Gabba for at least another season.

The Lions have also committed to re-drafting Claye Beams and Cian Hanley after delisting the duo on Thursday.

Allison is the most notable extension, with the athletic and rangy wingman making an impact in 2017 with his use of pace and excellent skills.

The Lions Academy product told AFL.com.au that coach Chris Fagan's "open door policy" had helped his game enormously. 

"He's open to any questions you've got and he gives you straight and direct feedback, which is what any footballer wants," Allison said.

"He gave that to me early in the year and told me the things I had to improve. He definitely gives you feedback in the right way and doesn't talk down to you. 

"To play NEAFL and earn my spot and play the final five games was a big deal."

Allison was taken with pick No.55 in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft and averaged 18 disposals and five marks. 

Aside from the seven re-signings, Beams and Hanley will also play in Lions colours in 2018. 

Hanley has spent three years on the club's list as a Category B rookie, the first two of which were robbed by injury.

The Lions are working with the AFL to retain the Irishman on their list, most likely in the same capacity. 

Beams, the younger brother of captain Dayne, will also be redrafted either on the primary list or as a rookie.
