THREE deals were completed on day four of the NAB AFL Trade Period, and more are expected to follow as next week's deadline edges closer.
Will Jake Lever's move to Adelaide spawn more activity for the Crows, and can Essendon land its next two trade targets after securing Devon Smith?
AFL.com.au's Trade winds will provide a round-up of the latest action each morning until the end of the trade period next Thursday, October 19.
Tricky business for Stringer
Essendon's decision to use its pick No.11 in a deal with Greater Western Sydney to net Smith will make it "tricky" for Jake Stringer to become a Bomber, according to his manager Paul Connors.
The Bombers gave over their prized early selection to the Giants, plus a future third-round pick, in return for Smith, a second-round pick in this year's draft and a second-round selection for next year.
But the Bulldogs had been eyeing pick 11 for Stringer, and Connors told the Herald Sun it made things challenging to get the premiership forward to Tullamarine.
"We're committed to Essendon and that's what we're going to do. But it's tricky," Connors said.
"But we're confident it will all be done".
Essendon is also chasing Gold Coast's Adam Saad, with a future second-round pick likely to be enough to get that deal across the line.
Power can get Watts and Motlop
Having already secured Tom Rockliff as a free agent, Port Adelaide is confident it will be able to include Steven Motlop and Jack Watts in its salary cap if both choose Alberton Oval as their preferred home.
The Advertiser reports that the Power can add both players to their list without stretching their cap too tight, having cleared a sizeable contract in offloading Jarman Impey to Hawthorn on Thursday.
Watts is choosing between the Power, Geelong and Sydney, with Melbourne expected to ask for a pick before No.30 in return for the 26-year-old.
Motlop is weighing a move to South Australia, as either a Crow or Power player, where he has strong family links, against a switch to Gold Coast.
The Geelong speedster is close friends with Suns captain Steven May.
Crows still cool on Gibbs
Adelaide's capacity to accrue two first-round picks out of the Jake Lever deal – one for this year and one for next – and the possibility of bringing in another if its stance on Charlie Cameron softens saw speculation grow the Crows could make a renewed push for Carlton star Bryce Gibbs.
The Crows currently hold pick No.10 and 16 at this year's draft, and are likely to be offered one of the Brisbane Lions' No.18 or 19 for Cameron if negotiations progress.
However, even if that does happen, the Crows are sticking by their stance that they won't be chasing Gibbs again after last year's failed trade.
"Nothing has changed [on Gibbs]," Adelaide list manager Justin Reid told The Advertiser after the Lever deal.
No movement with Kennedy
Carlton wants Matt Kennedy and Kennedy wants to join the Blues, but that deal is a slow-moving one with Greater Western Sydney.
The Giants are eyeing a second-round selection for the second-year midfielder, who was a first-round pick in 2015.
But the Blues, according to The Age, are only offering a third-round pick, which won't appease the Giants. The Giants are hoping to get a pick around the 20 mark for the goalkicking midfielder, who was of interest to a number of clubs after playing 16 senior games this season.
