DOES footy need a players' code of conduct?

In the wake of round eight's stoush involving the Saints and Marc Murphy, we want to hear your views.

Highly personal comments reportedly concerning Murphy's wife incensed the Carlton captain, sparking a spiteful melee.

Saints skipper Jarryn Geary conceded Saturday's sledging went too far, contacting Murphy to apologise on behalf of the club.

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan rejected calls for a players' code, saying: "There is a line out there and I think generally it's not breached", while the League later said such comments had "no place in our game".

But is this a strong enough response?
