DOES footy need a players' code of conduct?

In the wake of round eight's stoush involving the Saints and Marc Murphy, we want to hear your views.

Highly personal comments reportedly concerning Murphy's wife incensed the Carlton captain, sparking a spiteful melee.

Saints skipper Jarryn Geary conceded Saturday's sledging went too far, contacting Murphy to apologise on behalf of the club.

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan rejected calls for a players' code, saying: "There is a line out there and I think generally it's not breached", while the League later said such comments had "no place in our game".

But is this a strong enough response?

Damien Barrett: "No other professional workplace in the world would tolerate this rubbish"

In today's Burning Question video, which you can watch above, AFL.com.au's Matt Thompson and Nick Bowen debate how the game should tackle on-field conduct.

Now, we want your take. Where is the line for on-field behaviour? Does it need clarifying with a formal code of conduct? Should penalties apply for sledging which goes too far?

Have your say via the form below and we'll publish the best responses on Thursday
