KEY Adelaide forwards Tom Lynch and Josh Jenkins are getting closer to returning to full training after off-season surgeries.

Lynch underwent a minor knee operation, while Jenkins is on his way back after an ankle injury.

Both players are on track to be available for the JLT Community Series, with the Crows having their first game against Richmond at Etihad Stadium on February 24.

"It has been a little bit frustrating, but I was well aware of what I had to do to get back from a minor knee scope," Lynch told radio station 5AA.

"Luckily enough I'm filtering back in now, as is Josh.

"He's probably been back for a little bit longer than myself, which is exciting for him, but we're not too far away."

Lynch and Jenkins had outstanding seasons last year as part of the most lethal forward line in the competition.

Along with booting 42 goals, Lynch provided a great marking target across half-forward and excelled with his ability to cover the ground.

Jenkins finished with 62 majors, including a career-best haul of eight goals against the Western Bulldogs in round seven.

The Crows loomed as a genuine premiership contender last season before bowing out to Sydney in the second week of the finals at the SCG.

"It was extremely disappointing, but for me it was a bit of an anomaly," Lynch said.

"We showed enough times last year on a consistent basis we can match it with the best.

"We're not changing our whole game-plan or (going) horses for courses.

"We've got some great talent at this club, guys who are working really hard to improve and hopefully we can see that early in the year. "

While the Crows had an impressive 16-6 win/loss record, they won only four of their 10 games against teams that made the finals.

Those six losses in the home and away season were by five goals or less.

But the Crows couldn't match it with Geelong (losing by 26 points in round eight and 30 points in round 18) and suffered a devastating 29-point loss to West Coast in round 23 when a top-four berth was up for grabs.

"That's last year now and we've got to move on," Lynch said.

"There were a number of games that we were excellent in as well.

"Obviously you don't want to have those games, no team does.

"We were very disappointed with all that, but we've got to get on with business for 2017 and rectify those losses."

After they face the Tigers, the Crows complete their pre-season campaign against Geelong at Richmond Oval on March 5 and Brisbane Lions at Hickinbotham Oval on March 11
