GOLD Coast is just two weeks away from moving into its $22 million state-of-the-art training and administration facility.

The entire club is expected to be in its new home by February 6.

Although just a 200m walk from their Carrara offices, the new facility is a world apart.

Since being given the licence in 2008 to become the AFL's 17th club, Gold Coast staff have worked out of demountable buildings and players have lifted weights in a tin shed.

That will no longer be the case.

Administration and players will all be under one roof, with everything from a three-lane pool to hot and cold baths, gym and heat rooms.

You can't wipe the smile off the face of CEO Andrew Travis.

"We're arriving in elite facilities for the first time in our club's history," he told AFL.com.au.

"We believe we've got a facility to rival any in the AFL and we're not missing anything."

A training field the size of the MCG adjoins the facility, but work to convert it into a warm up track for the 2018 Commonwealth Games will begin in July.

The Suns will continue to train on Metricon Stadium with a view to using their new training field more regularly at the conclusion of the Games.

"We always viewed this (new facility) as a (player) retention strategy, but it's also an attraction strategy," Travis said.

"Players from other clubs can come up and see our club is set up just as good as the environment they're in.

"Add the lifestyle and the fact we've got a stadium we have access to, and you put together a really strong case for playing AFL on the Gold Coast."
