THE TOP eight is set after one of the most dramatic finishes to a home and away season on record, with Geelong and Richmond to face off in under a fortnight with a blockbuster qualifying final at the MCG.
The AFL announced the fixture for the first week of the 2017 Toyota AFL Finals Series, with the second-placed Cats and third-placed Tigers to do battle in the second qualifying final on Friday, September 8 at 7.50pm AEST.
Adelaide and Greater Western Sydney open the finals series with a mouth-watering first qualifying final at Adelaide Oval the night before at 7.20pm ACST.

The first week of finals will also see sixth-placed Sydney host seven-placed Essendon in the do-or-die second elimination final at the SCG on Saturday, September 9 at 4.20pm AEST.
Last year's runners up, the Swans become the first team in history to make the finals after losing their first six games of the season, and ended the regular season having won 14 of their last 16 games since round seven.
The Bombers have made significant inroads this season after slumping to last year's wooden spoon, qualifying for their first finals campaign since the end of the supplements saga.
Like Port Adelaide, Essendon last played finals in 2014.
The first week will end at Adelaide Oval when fifth-placed Port Adelaide returns to September action in the first elimination final against eighth-placed West Coast on Saturday night at 7.20pm ACST.
