ROUND 12 should theoretically be the easiest and most enjoyable week of AFL Fantasy all season long.
You've got three trades, 20 new dual-position players to consider, and just need to get 18 players on the field with only four teams (Geelong, North Melbourne, Richmond and West Coast) having the bye.
It's a good time to assess how your round one cash cows are going and upgrade them if possible.
Hang on to Andy Otten (DEF/FWD, $389,000) for one more week until the Crows have their bye. His round 12 breakeven of 81 is not impossible if Adelaide does a number on the Saints this Friday night.
Braydon Preuss (RUC, $316,000) is sitting on nearly one in three Fantasy benches but it's time to cash him in for a $150,000 cheapie, or even for Jake Spencer (RUC, $289,000) who is likely to return for the Queen’s Birthday clash if you’re nervous about lacking tall cover.
Sam Powell-Pepper (MID, $351,000) has made his coaches a tidy $135,000 since the start of the year, but without a second position, you’d be better off cashing him in for a bench option like Daniel Lloyd (MID/FWD, $219,000) or David Myers (MID, $281,000) and using the cash to upgrade to one of the absolute must-have mids (Tom Rockliff, Tom Mitchell, Zach Merrett etc).
Nathan Hrovat (MID/FWD, $420,000) is another in the gun with a bye this week and a round 13 breakeven of 103. Pearce Hanley (MID/DEF, $444,000), fresh with a new position, looks a smart swap if you can cover the difference.
Make sure that if you’re ditching the cash cows, you trade for dual-position players like Zac Fisher (MID/FWD, $242,000) or Kurt Mutimer (MID/FWD, $212,000).
The more DPP players you have as the season goes on, the more flexibility you will have to cover late outs, surprise axings and other unforeseen hits that we know are coming.

Get 'em in
Brad Ebert, Port Adelaide (MID, $602,000): In superb form, the veteran mid is close to a must-have, and will easily eclipse his breakeven of 101 against the Dons.
Levi Greenwood, Collingwood (MID/FWD, $424,000): Having a solid season and with a breakeven of 51 against the Demons, he’s a smart choice for your forward line.
Travis Boak, Port Adelaide (MID/FWD, $516,000): A surprise DPP recipient, the Power captain is owned by just one per cent of the competition. A perfect point of difference up forward with no byes to come.
Bye for now
Daniel Wells, Collingwood (MID/FWD, $458,000): Classic Wells to pick up a new position in Fantasy the same evening as he did his calf again.
Aaron Sandilands, Fremantle (RUC, $466,000): After being a late out on Sunday, we’re unlikely to see Sandi until at least round 14. Swap for Jarrod Witts.
Jarrod Harbrow, Gold Coast (DEF, $490,000): The former Bulldog has been in great touch but a drink-driving indiscretion means he’ll miss the clash with Hawthorn.
