GOLD Coast veteran Jarrod Harbrow has been banned from driving for four months after pleading guilty to a drink-driving charge.
Harbrow, 29, faced Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday after recording a blood-alcohol reading of 0.108 during a roadside breath test at 8am on June 5.
The court heard the Suns defender had been drinking red wine the night before with his mother.
In addition to having his licence suspended, Harbrow was fined $700, though no conviction was recorded.
Harbrow's lawyer Darren Mahoney said his client's actions were out of character and he had been embarrassed by the incident.
Mahoney presented a number of references to the court, including one from Suns coach Rodney Eade.
"He has dedicated himself to his career and also assisting people in the community," Mahoney said.
Magistrate Jason Schubert conceded Harbrow's actions appeared out of character but said it had to be taken into account he was still more than two times over the legal blood-alcohol level.
"Being a role model comes with a certain responsibility," he said.
"You have let yourself down in this circumstance."
Harbrow had already been given a two-match ban by the Suns as well as being fined $5000.
He was also ordered to undergo the Queensland Traffic Offenders Program, which Mahoney said his client had found to be a highly beneficial process.
