THE AFL will provide 4000 more Grand Final tickets to members of competing clubs in 2017, with the corporate allocation being reduced.

Members of the two clubs who reach the September 30 stage will have access to 17,000 tickets per club, up from 15,000 last year.

The extra seats come from a reduction in the number of high-priced corporate and event packages being offered.

It remains to be seen whether it forces up the prices of the remaining premium packages, which usually include fine dining, entertainment and beverage options.

"This decision is a win for the members of the competing clubs who reach the Grand Final to play off for the premiership." AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said in a statement on Wednesday.

Allocations to non-competing clubs, the MCC, AFL and Medallian Club members are not impacted by the AFL's decision.

"MCC members contribute to the upkeep of the MCG as the premier stadium in our country, while AFL members contribute directly to their club," McLachlan said.

"The Toyota AFL Grand Final is Australia's premier sporting event, and there is always huge demand for tickets. We have to balance a range of interests, including all clubs, the industry and our partners.

"The MCG is always full on Grand Final day with AFL supporters, but this will ensure a greater representation of the members from the two clubs competing for the premiership."

Last month McLachlan announced the League would stick with a 2.30pm bounce for this year's big game, despite a push from some quarters for a twilight match.

It's understood part of the reason was because the League wasn't able to secure a huge international act to headline either pre-game or half-time entertainment.

The League is yet to announce performers for this year's Grand Final entertainment.
