COLLINGWOOD midfielder Travis Varcoe has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Carlton at the MCG due to a hamstring strain.
The speedster may also be in doubt for the club's clash with Greater Western Sydney in a fortnight's time, should he not recover in time.
Varcoe had scans on Monday after injuring his hamstring in the third quarter of the Magpies' 29-point win over Geelong on Sunday.
Collingwood was considering putting Varcoe back out on the ground against the Cats, but ultimately decided it was not worth the risk.
"The scans verified that it is a slight strain, and he will certainly miss this week," Magpies football manager Geoff Walsh told the club's website.
"With hamstrings, it's more than likely that it could develop into two weeks.
"It's not a bad one, so we’ll reassess things in 7-10 days and see how well he is travelling."
Meanwhile, father-son draftee Josh Daicos is expected to be fit for the club's VFL clash against the Northern Blues on Sunday.
Daicos missed last week's VFL match against Sandringham with general soreness.
Tom Langdon is nearing a return to the field after a lingering knee injury has kept him sidelined for the start of this season.
Youngster Brayden Sier is still a fortnight away from a return to the VFL because of an injury to his eye socket.
