RICHMOND superstar Dustin Martin is expected break Patrick Dangerfield's record for the most Brownlow Medal votes, according to the AFL.com.au predictor.

Dangerfield polled 35 votes last year, but Martin is tipped to set a new mark of 38 votes. The record tally doesn't include 1976 and 1977, when both field umpires judged their own 3-2-1.

Dangerfield, who can't take out the award after being suspended for a tackle on Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer, is expected to have the second-highest tally of 29.

The closest eligible player is silky Greater Western Sydney left-footer Josh Kelly, with a tally of 25.

Taking home 'Charlie' would cap off a memorable season for restricted free agent Martin, whose future beyond this year remains unknown.

He was adjudged best-on-ground for the 10th time this season against St Kilda on Sunday afternoon at the MCG to help confirm a spot in the top four for the Tigers, racking up 36 disposals, 14 contested possessions and two goals in yet another dominant display.

The record for most games with three votes is shared by Dangerfield (2016), Fremantle's Nat Fyfe (2015) and Carlton's Greg Williams (1994), who all did it nine times.

So outstanding was Martin, who averaged 30.3 disposals and 1.4 goals after lining up in every game this season, that just five players managed half of the Tiger's final tally: Dangerfield, Kelly, Hawthorn's Tom Mitchell (22), Adelaide's Rory Sloane (21) and Sydney's Josh Kennedy (19).

CrownBet agree it's highly unlikely anyone will seriously contend with Martin, with the bullocking onballer at $1.07 on Monday morning to have the Brownlow draped around his neck.

Mitchell is next in line, at $8, while Kelly is at $13.
