WEST Coast forward Mark LeCras appears all but certain to play on in 2018, with coach Adam Simpson declaring a contract extension for the veteran is "not too far away".
But the future of Sharrod Wellingham remains unclear after the Eagles coach stopped short of addressing the 29-year-old's chances of a new deal.
The Eagles started exit meetings with their players on Monday in the wake of Saturday night's crushing 67-point semi-final loss to Greater Western Sydney.
Asked on Monday night if LeCras and Wellingham would remain in Eagles colours next year, Simpson threw his support behind LeCras.
"We're really positive about, in particular, Mark. I think he's been still a good contributor this year and we're working through that at the moment, so that's not too far away," Simpson told 6PR.
"As for the rest of the list, that's not for tonight to talk about, but I've spoken about it for a while now that we are in a transition with our list and, one thing is for sure, the profile will look a lot different come pre-season in 2018."
West Coast had the oldest list this season but has bid farewell to retiring quartet Matt Priddis, Sam Butler, Sam Mitchell and Drew Petrie.
There are still decisions to be made on the likes of uncontracted key defender Eric Mackenzie, small forward Josh Hill, athletic tall Tom Lamb and rookie Fraser McInnes.
But LeCras looks headed for a 14th season after booting 32 goals in 19 games this year, despite battling various injuries including a sore hip.
"Obviously the standards that Mark sets are really high and he's been an A-grade talent for a long period of time," Simpson said.
"We're hoping to get something done and he's been a tremendous asset for us.
"The performances this year, there's been some reasons behind a couple, but for the most part we think he's contributed really well.
"For a side with limited forwards and a real desperate need for a crumbing small forward, we think there's still plenty of room for growth in that area whilst hopefully maintaining his position in the side.
"There's no formal announcement at the moment but it's not too far away."
West Coast's coaching ranks could also be set for a shake-up.
Midfield and ruck coach Dean Cox is out of contract, while senior assistant Justin Longmuir has reportedly attracted interest from Adelaide and Collingwood.
Former Hawthorn champion Mitchell will take up an assistant coaching role for the next three seasons after joining the Eagles on a four-year playing and coaching contract at the end of last year.
Meanwhile, Petrie intends to stay at West Coast in an off-field capacity if the opportunity arises for 2018.
The 34-year-old joined the Eagles at the end of last season via the rookie draft after North Melbourne chose not to renew his contract along with that of Brent Harvey, Michael Firrito and Nick Dal Santo.
Petrie said his family was settled in Perth and expressed his wish to stay in the football landscape.
"While I take a moment to reflect I have got to start thinking about what is next," Petrie told The West Australian.
"I have got a few irons in the fire. We would like to stay in Perth for a bit longer.
"I love the industry. I love being around the footy club environment. I love helping people and teaching others. If something opened up at West Coast I would love to hang around."
Petrie registered 444 career goals to equal legends Robert Walls, Malcolm Blight and Alex Jesaulenko.
