COLLINGWOOD ruckman Brodie Grundy is in no doubt he will be at the Magpies beyond this season and will look to finalise a new contract with the club soon.

The 23-year-old told AFL.com.au the ongoing collective bargaining negotiations had been the main factor causing a delay in agreement being reached.

With players being briefed on the details of a new collective bargaining agreement, the new deal is just weeks away from being announced.

Grundy said he was confident his contract extension would follow soon after. 

"When that is all wrapped up, watch this space," Grundy said.

"I am happy at Collingwood."

Grundy, who grew up in South Australia, was in outstanding form in the first four weeks of the season after finishing fourth in the club's best and fairest last year.

"I'm really settled here, have my uni here [and] have got some good family ties here. [I am] really enjoying time in Melbourne," Grundy said.

He conceded his football had tapered off in the past fortnight but he hoped to bounce back this week against Greater Western Sydney after a seven-day break. 

He has attended 152 centre bounces this season and been excellent around the ground as he develops into one of the game's best young ruckman.

After 69 games, he appears to be heading towards the peak of his career.
