THINGS are getting serious, and with only three weeks to go this AFL season, you have to nail your Draftstars selections. Here's your cheat sheets and a little information on three players from each side this weekend – some to consider and some to overlook.

Geelong v Sydney, semi-final, MCG, Friday night

Mitch Duncan (MID, $15,200): Duncan was one of few who stood up for the Cats last week by scoring a team-high 131 points against Richmond in their qualifying final loss. It was his fifth century from his past six games, and maintains his average at 113 points a game in 2017. Patrick Dangerfield gets all the credit, but Duncan is a top-line Draftstars performer every week.

Patrick Dangerfield (MID, $17,050): Speaking of Dangerfield, he managed 114 points last week despite being hounded by the Tigers. He had 31 disposals, and while many were not influential, it doesn't matter to us in the daily fantasy world. He's expensive, but still one of the most reliable players in the competition.

Scott Selwood (MID, $14,450): We put our faith in Joel Selwood last week to return from injury and perform, but he didn't deliver. So we're jumping onto his brother's bandwagon. Scott is unassuming, but gathered 27 disposals and 103 points last week. He's averaged 106 the past six weeks, so is in very good form.

Josh Kennedy (MID, $15,050): Kennedy was the driving force in the Swans' win over Essendon last week with 29 disposals and 109 Draftstars points. He has a clear form line of big games in finals, and as captain will be central to Sydney's efforts to get through to the preliminary final.

Luke Parker (MID, $14,550): The important Sydney midfielder scored 98 last week, which came on the back of scores of 113, 87, 113, 116 and 105 leading into the finals. So he's in some brilliant touch, and is worth backing to continue that when things are hot against the Cats.

Callum Sinclair (FWD/RK, $10,750): Who'd have thought heading into last week that Sinclair would outshine Lance Franklin? Not many, so if you had the big Swan in their elimination final then you deserved his 90 points compared to Buddy's 58. Even with that in mind, Sinclair's a risky choice. He scored 99 in round 23, but was back in the 50s in the two weeks before that.

Greater Western Sydney v West Coast, semi-final, Spotless Stadium, Saturday night

Stephen Coniglio (MID, $13,300): We saw Coniglio at his best last week against Adelaide, picking up a season-high 134 points in a very strong effort under fire from the Crows. Coniglio has had a very interrupted season so his numbers don't stack up as well as others, but it was the type of game he can go on from.

Josh Kelly (MID, $14,800): We had to mention him, didn't we? Kelly stood up in the finals furnace with 126 points last week – which was the 15th time this season he has surpassed triple figures. It's been an astonishingly consistent season, and he doesn't look like being stopped. As the ninth-best scorer in the competition this year he's pricey, but worth it.

Dylan Shiel (MID, $12,300): Steer clear of Shiel this week, and not just because of his 53-point fizzer last week. The two games previous to that, Shiel managed just 78 and 68 points respectively, so it's clear he's not at his best. Perhaps those shoulder issues are becoming too much, but for a premium player he's just not performing at the level we need at Draftstars HQ.

Luke Shuey (MID, $14,550): He was the Eagles' hero last week, and he was also that for Draftstars coaches around Australia. Shuey was huge across the whole night, having 32 disposals, kicking two goals and having 11 tackles to power himself to 151 points for the biggest score of the opening week of finals. In form, so get him in.

Drew Petrie (FWD/RK, $10,450): Petrie was one of the surprise heroes for the Eagles last week, pulling in 114 points in a dominant ruck/forward display. He has shown over his career a capacity to play both roles, and that might appeal to Draftstars coaches, particularly with the Giants missing first-choice ruckman Shane Mumford. It was Petrie's first ton since round 15, though, so be a little wary.

Sam Mitchell (MID, $13,350): There are better options than Mitchell for the Eagles, so don't get sucked into his statistics, which last week read 26 disposals, but just 70 points. He doesn't pick up tackle numbers like others and handballs plenty, so doesn't get the most out of his disposals for us. A great player, but if you're looking for an Eagles midfielder, then Matt Priddis (MID, $15,250) or Andrew Gaff (MID, $13,350) are better bets.
