EXCITING Greater Western Sydney forward Will Hoskin-Elliott has been traded to Collingwood for a second-round selection in next year's NAB AFL Draft. 

Hoskin-Elliott, who the Giants selected with pick No.4 in the 2011 draft, has failed to deliver on his enormous potential, and heads to the Magpies to bring some speed to their list.

The 23-year-old kicked 26 goals from 20 games in 2014 and looked set for big things, but has managed just 13 appearances since, as he struggled with consistency and soft-tissue injuries.

The quick forward with a prodigious leap played the first two games of 2016 and pulled down a mark of the year contender against Geelong in Canberra in round two, but wasn't seen at senior level again.

Collingwood list manager Derek Hine said Hoskin-Elliott has plenty to offer the club.

"Will (Hoskin-Elliott) is an elite talent, someone we thought highly of as a junior and a player we have tracked throughout his career," he said. 

"There is tremendous upside in Will. With good hands, speed, excellent ball use and versatility, he has the tools to be a quintessential modern player. 

"We’re looking forward to him getting into our program, knuckling down and making an impact with Collingwood for a long time to come."

Hoskin-Elliott said he's rapt to have landed at the black and whites.

"I used to go for the Pies when I was younger so I’ve always loved them," he said.

"I hope to bring some outside run and speed to help out the inside mids like Adam Treloar, Scott Pendlebury, and now Daniel Wells."
