MAJAK Daw has turned his back on rival interest to re-sign with North Melbourne for three years amid a flurry of re-signings at Arden St that includes new one-year deals for Jarrad Waite and Sam Gibson.

With North announcing last month veteran spearhead Drew Petrie would not continue with the club in 2017, Daw shaped as a key re-signing for North as it prepared to take a remodelled forward line into next season.

The improvement Daw showed in his nine senior games this season both as a ruckman and key forward ensured he came onto the radar of opposition clubs, with that rival interest growing the longer he remained unsigned beyond 2016.

North announced on Thursday Daw had re-signed until the end of 2019.

"I'm really excited to sign another contract extension and remain at the Roos," Daw told North's website.

"I've been at North Melbourne since 2009 and couldn't see myself playing anywhere else.

"The club has been great to me and so have the fans, who I think are definitely the most passionate in the AFL."

North list manager Cameron Joyce said Daw, 25, had "a big future" at Arden St.

"His performances in the second half of the year, and in particular his four-goal effort in the elimination final, showed what he is capable of," Joyce said. 

"He has really made the most of his opportunities and the sky is the limit for him.

"We know he will have a big impact in 2017 and beyond and he is certainly an important part of our club's future."

In addition to the new one-year deals for Waite, 33, and Gibson, 30, North announced rookie ruckman Braydon Preuss had recommitted for two years and would be elevated to the club's senior list next season, and midfielder Will Fordham would return for a third year on the rookie list in 2017. 

"Jarrad will continue to provide experience and leadership in the forward line," Joyce said of Waite.

"Sam's run and spread is as good as anyone's in the competition and his durability is another asset for us. 

"We are rapt both players have recommitted for next season." 

Daw has played 25 senior games since debuting in 2013, having joined North in the rookie draft ahead of the 2010 season.
