CARLTON father-son draftee Jack Silvagni impressed with three goals for the Northern Blues in a 56-point win over Richmond's VFL team in a practice match at Punt Road on Thursday.

With father Stephen, who is now Carlton's list manager, watching from the grandstand in the first half the third generation Silvagni worked hard at ground level, showed good skills and put the icing on the cake with a long goal late in the game.

Fellow draftee David Cuningham also stood out in good conditions, working tirelessly around the packs and showing enough class to provide hope for long-suffering Blues' fans.

The smooth moving midfielder, who Carlton selected with pick No.23 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft, regularly sent the ball forward in the Northern Blues' comfortable win.

He had good support up forward from former Greater Western Sydney first round draft pick Kristian Jaksch who kicked two goals and had a hand in several others, while ex-Sun Daniel Gorringe stood out in the second quarter up forward and kicked three goals for the game.

Emergency for the AFL team Charlie Curnow did not play while Harry McKay is on the sidelines with a back injury.

Unlucky Richmond forward Ben Lennon, who the Tigers dropped from last year's elimination final, showed why Carlton was interested in him during last year's trade period.

He kicked four goals and was a standout. Veteran Troy Chaplin played up forward and battled hard too, taking some strong marks and showing his experience.
