THE FIRST Friday night game in Tasmania will kick off with a bang with North Melbourne planning an action-packed pre-game show before its round 11 clash against Richmond.
Tim Rogers will headline the Spirit of Tasmania pre-game show, with the You Am I front man to perform a set of classic footy tracks, after which there will be a fireworks display at 10 different spots around the venue.
Outside the ground, there will be fire twirlers and large bouncing kangaroo performers, while 4000 flashing LED wristbands will be distributed to fans inside the stadium.
North CEO Carl Dilena said all reserved and corporate tickets had been sold out for the game, with only about 1000 general admission seats left for sale.
"We wanted to really make it a spectacular event and encourage the AFL to see it as a potential future fixture," Dilena said.
"We really want to put on a great show – a big crowd, a big stage, a great lead-in the pre-game and a big game against a Richmond team that is well and truly up and about again."
"I think for everyone – whether it's the sponsors, the supporters, the general public – the fact you're going to be on the national TV stage with over one million viewers, all eyes on Tasmania for that Friday night, that's great incentive for everyone to get along and make it a really, really big event."
Dilena encouraged fans to get to Blundstone Arena at least half an hour before the game to ensure they don't get caught up in Friday night traffic and miss the pre-game entertainment.
The Richmond clash is the second of four Friday night games the Roos will play from rounds 10 to 18 (the others are against the Sydney Swans, Hawthorn and Collingwood), while they will also take Adelaide in a Thursday night game at the Adelaide Oval in round 14.
"It's great for the club to be in the spotlight and to get the recognition from the AFL to play in those marquee timeslots," Dilena said.
"It's certainly going to be a tough time on field, but I think the players are pretty excited about that prospect and the chance to really measure up against the best sides."
