OUT-OF-FAVOUR Bulldog Jake Stringer was one of four players named in the Schick AFL Player Ratings team of the year despite not being nominated in the All Australian squad of 40.
Brisbane Lion Dayne Zorko, Melbourne defender Tom McDonald and Greater Western Sydney running back Zac Williams were also named in the 22, based on statistical assessments of their years.
Stringer is on the outer at the Bulldogs and has spent his past two games in the VFL.
But prior to his surprise dumping from the Bulldogs' top 22, the dynamic forward had two hauls of five goals and another couple of bags of four.
Zorko was one of the few bright spots in the Lions' disappointing season.
The midfielder/forward was ranked among the top 16 in the competition for inside 50s, goal assists and tackles.
McDonald showed why his signature for a new contract was so highly sought after at Melbourne with his ability to not only beat his man, but also to rebound the ball out of defence.
Williams' run out of the backline for Greater Western Sydney has been crucial to the club's rise up the ladder.
