HAWTHORN looks certain to land former Adelaide defender Ricky Henderson as a delisted free agent as it continues to reshape its list.
The Hawks set their sights on the 28-year-old, who was not selected for the Crows' two finals in 2016 despite being in reasonable form late in the season.
AFL.com.au understands the Hawks are likely to snap up the running player with 90 games experience, with News Corp reporting Hawthorn's interest on Tuesday.
Henderson, who grew up in Victoria, can play in a variety of positions including the wing and provide run out of defence with the Hawks needing depth to cover the loss of Brad Hill and replace Angus Litherland, who was delisted last Wednesday.
Hawthorn became the biggest player in this year's trade period as it traded out four-time premiership players Sam Mitchell and Jordan Lewis as well as Hill and traded in Jaeger O'Meara, Tom Mitchell and Tyrone Vickery.
The coach Alastair Clarkson also conceded he canvassed the idea of sending small forward Paul Puopolo to the Brisbane Lions, as the club searched for ways to regenerate its list.
Henderson has been an underrated player in his eight seasons with the Crows after being rookie listed in 2009 and his hard runnning should suit the Hawks' game style.
A free agent this season, he was delisted on Monday, which makes him eligible to be picked up during the delisted free agency period that opened on Tuesday and lasts for a week.
