THE AFL's heat policy will be in place for Sunday's final NAB Challenge game between West Coast and Essendon at Domain Stadium.

The AFL has spoken to both clubs as temperatures are expected to reach 38 degrees in Perth on Sunday. The game is due to start at 4.10pm local time.

The two clubs will have the option of playing eight on the bench instead of six.

There will be no cap on the interchanges and the breaks at quarter-time and three-quarter time will be extended to 10 minutes and the half-time break will be 25 minutes.

The AFL enacted the heat policy for Saturday's clash between Fremantle and Geelong at Domain Stadium. But both clubs opted to play just 24 players, with six on the bench, despite the option to play 26 players. 

Sunday's clash between the Brisbane Lions and Greater Western Sydney will also be played under the heat policy, with the temperature set to reach 29 degrees at Metricon Stadium. 

The Lions-Giants match will also have a 25-minute half-time break, while the quarter-time and three-quarter time intervals will run for eight minutes.
