GOLD Coast recruit Jarrad Grant has undergone surgery on a fractured wrist suffered on a training ride at the weekend.

Grant will be restricted to running duties in the coming weeks, but is expected to play the final NAB Challenge match against Adelaide on March 11. 

The former Bulldog had surgery on Australia Day following the accident on Saturday.

"Jarrad injured his wrist after he came off his bike during a cycling session on Saturday morning," Gold Coast general manager of football operations Marcus Ashcroft said.

"Scans that afternoon revealed he had fractured a bone in his wrist and he had surgery on Tuesday to insert a pin.

"We anticipate that Jarrad will be in a position to play in our final NAB challenge match of the pre-season, but fortunately he will be able to maintain his fitness base during his time in rehabilitation."

Gold Coast claimed the 26-year-old forward as a delisted free agent at the end of last season. 

Grant played 81 games - 19 in 2015 – and kicked 83 goals in his eight seasons with the Bulldogs.
