Adelaide

Yet-to-debut midfielder Harrison Wigg will be a topic of conversation at the Crows' match committee meeting after his game-high 31 possessions, five clearances and a goal in the 94-point win.

The 19-year-old was selected with pick No.35 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

In his second match back from a lengthy ankle injury, youngster Riley Knight registered four goals from his 19 disposals and four marks. 

Omitted ruckman Reilly O'Brien, who played the last two games for the Crows, proved too strong around the stoppages in his return to the SANFL, accumulating 41 hit-outs and three clearances. 

Midfielders Dean Gore (29 touches, seven tackles) and Mitch Grigg (26 touches, three goals) were also solid contributors in the big win.

Brisbane Lions

This weekend: Giants v Brisbane Lions - Saturday August 20, 12.55pm, Spotless Stadium

It was yet another tough day at the office for the Lions, who were dealt a 139-point thrashing by GWS.

Axed midfielder Jarrad Jansen could hold his head high for his side, though, collecting an equal team-high 24 disposals in the one-sided contest.

Tall defender Hugh Beasley and academy product Liam Dawson weren't far behind on 22 touches apiece, with the latter also accumulating a game-high 14 tackles and kicking a goal.

Midfielder Billy Evans gathered 24 possessions and laid five tackles, while ruckman Trent West, who announced his retirement during the week, had 11 disposals in his farewell game.

Carlton

This weekend: Northern Blues v Williamstown - Saturday August 20, 2pm, Ikon Park

Two-metre-tall teenage forward Harry McKay has placed himself in the frame to make a final-round AFL debut following an impressive showing in the Northern Blues' 55-point loss to Williamstown at Ikon Park on Saturday.

The No. 10 pick in last year's NAB AFL Draft missed the first half of the season with a stress fracture in his back, but despite limited opportunities against the Seagulls, the 18-year-old kicked one of his team's six goals and moved well.

Dropped midfielder Blaine Boekhorst was serviceable without dominating in gathering 24 possessions.

The standout, though, was ex-Bulldog Jason Tutt, who had a team-high 32 touches.

Rookie-listed ruckman Cameron Wood was also among the best, while Kristian Jaksch had 16 touches and struggled to make an impact.

Collingwood

This weekend: Box Hill v Collingwood - Saturday August 20, 1pm, Box Hill City Oval

Magpie veteran Travis Cloke continued his strong VFL form with four goals in a 21-point win over the Box Hill Hawks on Saturday.

Cloke, who is contracted with Collingwood for next year but is believed to be seeking a new home, kicked the match-sealing goal and will have more opportunities to impress given he has now qualified for the VFL finals.

Ruckman Jarrod Witts, another Pie whose future appears clouded, was also influential with his tap work, while Tim Golds was a strong four-quarter performer from a wing and half-back in a 12th successive win.

Backman Marley Williams was withdrawn from the game in the first term ahead of his late inclusion for Collingwood's clash with Gold Coast on Saturday night.

Essendon

State league affiliate: Essendon (VFL)
This weekend: North Ballarat v Essendon - Saturday August 20, 2.30pm, Eureka Stadium

Forgotten midfielder Shaun Edwards, who has played just three games at the top level this season, displayed his speed and ended with 26 touches and a goal in the Bombers' comprehensive 66-point win.

Omitted top-up recruit James Polkinghorne used his 101 games of experience to collect 22 touches and kick a goal, while ruckman/forward Shaun McKernan shook off a knock he received in the first quarter and booted three majors.

Fremantle

State league affiliate: Peel Thunder (WAFL)
This weekend: Peel Thunder v Subiaco - Saturday August 20, 2.15pm, Bendigo Bank Stadium

Midfielder Matt de Boer boosted his chances of earning a senior recall for forward Matthew Pavlich's farewell game next week, accumulating a game-high 33 disposals and seven tackles in Peel's 17-point defeat.

Out-of-contract Dockers Anthony Morabito and Josh Deluca were also named among the Thunder's best with 21 and 17 disposals respectively, while Tendai Mzungu – also out of contract – had 18 touches and kicked a goal.

Big man Jack Hannath dominated the ruck duel against his Subiaco opponent with 47 hit-outs to go with his 13 disposals.

Leading by 26 points at the last change, Peel was kept scoreless in the final term and conceded 6.7.

Geelong

This weekend: Geelong v Casey Scorpions - Sunday August 21, 11am, Simonds Stadium

Midfielder Billie Smedts returned from a broken leg he suffered in the VFL in early June, collecting 16 disposals playing a high forward role in his first competitive hit-out in over two months.

Youngster Jordan Cunico won his fair share of the ball in his fourth game back from surgery on both knees, steering his side to an 11-point win.

The 20-year-old collected 22 disposals, eight clearances, seven marks and four tackles in the middle, while defender Jed Bews (one goal) rounded out the Cats' best.

Gold Coast

This weekend: Aspley v Gold Coast - Saturday August 20, 1.30pm, Graham Road

Aside from another injury concern for David Swallow, the Suns had plenty to be positive about following their four-point win over Aspley at Graham Road in the NEAFL on Saturday.

Ex-Hawk Mitch Hallahan produced a stunning performance, gathering a game-high 35 possessions and kicking four goals, including three in the second quarter.

Rookie Jesse Joyce (26) was also critical to the narrow win, which sealed a finals berth for the Suns.

GWS

State league affiliate: Giants (NEAFL)
This weekend: Giants v Brisbane Lions - Saturday August 20, 12.55pm, Spotless Stadium

James Stewart (eight) and Rhys Palmer (six) combined to kick half of the Giants' 28 goals in a 139-point win over the Brisbane Lions at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.

In the final-round NEAFL clash, Palmer followed up a 40-touch effort with a game-high 36 possessions, including 25 kicks, along with eight tackles in a complete all-round game, albeit against inferior opposition.

Stewart's haul of 8.3 capped off an impressive performance that included 23 possessions and 14 marks.

Other Giants to star included rookies Daniel Lloyd (30 and 3.0) and Sam Reid (27 and 3.6), Harrison Himmelberg (30), Adam Kennedy (28) and Will Hoskin-Elliott (27).

Young midfielder Jack Steele had 43 disposals last week but was more sedate this time with 23 touches.

Hawthorn

State league affiliate: Box Hill (VFL)
This weekend: Box Hill v Collingwood - Saturday August 20, 1pm, Box Hill City Oval

Ryan Schoenmakers could be in line for an AFL return after getting through a VFL clash with Collingwood at the Box Hill City Oval on Saturday.

The big left-footer was a key forward in Hawthorn's premiership side last year and he slotted a goal in a 21-point loss to the Pies' VFL side, and with Jon Ceglar now out for the season, he could be rushed back into the Hawk forward line that now needs reinforcements.

More impressive though was fellow backman Angus Litherland, who repelled many attacks and provided strong rebound.

Midfielders Jono O'Rourke and Kieran Lovell were in good touch and were largely responsible for the Hawks having more scoring shots.

Developing forward Tim O'Brien did his chances of a senior recall no harm with a classy two-goal effort.

Melbourne

State league affiliate: Casey Scorpions (VFL)
This weekend: Geelong v Casey Scorpions - Sunday August 21, 11am, Simonds Stadium

Midfielder Matt Jones provided a good linking option from defence to attack with his run through the midfield, collecting 39 disposals in Casey's 11-point loss.

Restricted free agent Jack Grimes and fellow out-of-contract midfielder Jack Trengove also demonstrated their ball-winning ability with 37 and 31 disposals respectively, with Grimes adding a goal. 

Defenders Mitch White and Colin Garland repelled the Cats' attacks with 26 touches apiece, while Christian Salem rounded out Casey's leading possession-getters with 25 touches.

North Melbourne

State league affiliate: Werribee (VFL)
This weekend: Werribee v Footscray - Sunday August 21, 12pm, Avalon Airport Oval

Defender Luke McDonald got through his first game in two months in Werribee's heavy 63-point loss. 

The 21-year-old, who sustained the left hamstring injury in a chase-down tackle of Hawthorn's Cyril Rioli in round 13, played in his customary defensive role and was rested from about the 10-minute mark of the final term.

Kangaroos development manager Ben Dyer told AFL.com.au McDonald "looked pretty good given the length of time out" of the game. 

Second-year defender Ed Vickers-Willis (23 disposals) continued his steady rise in the backline, while omitted midfielder Ryan Clarke (26) found space and brought his teammates into the game.

In attack, axed speedster Robbie Nahas kicked three goals.

After returning from injury through the VFL last week, tagger Ben Jacobs and defender Sam Wright were no-shows.

Port Adelaide

Coming off the back of his 31-possession game last week, midfielder Kane Mitchell worked tirelessly in his fourth straight SANFL appearance, gathering 39 disposals and kicking three goals in the 25-point win.

Yet-to-debut ball-winner Will Snelling, who was selected with pick No.10 in last year's NAB AFL Rookie Draft, had 29 touches and booted a goal of his own. 

Youngsters Sam Colquhoun (27 touches) and Brendon Ah Chee (26 touches, one goal) generated plenty of dash, while forward John Butcher kicked four goals.

Richmond

State league affiliate: Richmond (VFL)
This weekend: Sandringham v Richmond - Sunday August 21, 2.15pm, Trevor Barker Beach Oval

Midfielder Anthony Miles responded in the best way possible after being axed from the Tigers' squad, picking up a team-high 28 touches in the nine-point win.

Richmond VFL operations manager Daniel Hull told AFL.com.au Miles was a solid performer and "won his fair share of contested possessions". 

Midfielder Reece Conca (22 touches, two goals) was also a notable standout courtesy of his ability to alternate between midfield and half-back during the match.

Omitted restricted free agent Ty Vickery presented well and booted two goals, while Mabior Chol continued his promising patch of form in the backline.

St Kilda

State league affiliate: Sandringham (VFL)
This weekend: Sandringham v Richmond - Sunday August 21, 2.15pm, Trevor Barker Beach Oval

Utility Cameron Shenton was named Sandringham's best player in its nine-point loss, kicking three goals from his 17 disposals and five marks. 

Draftee Brandon White, the Saints' No.40 selection in last year's NAB AFL Draft, had 26 touches, four marks and kicked a goal.

Youngster Josh Saunders ended with 30 disposals, seven marks and a goal, while midfielder Tom Curren was also prominent with 23 disposals and two goals.

Sydney Swans

State league affiliate: Sydney Swans (NEAFL)
This weekend: Sydney University v Sydney Swans - Saturday August 20, 1.30pm, Blacktown International Sportspark

Academy product Jordan Foote, who made his debut against Carlton in round 18, led the stats sheet with a game-high 37 disposals, 11 marks and eight tackles in the Swans' 25-point win.

The 20-year-old finished 12 possessions ahead of the next Swan, yet-to-debut rookie Nic Newman with 25 disposals, 10 marks and a goal.

Experienced defender Jeremy Laidler remained composed down back with 20 disposals and six marks, while draftee Jordan Dawson, the No.56 pick in last year's NAB AFL Draft, impressed with his 19 touches, 10 marks and eight tackles.

Retiring veteran Ted Richards kicked two goals from 13 possessions and six marks in his return from a one-week NEAFL suspension.

Axed ruckman Toby Nankervis gathered 19 disposals and six tackles after making way for Kurt Tippett in the senior squad.

West Coast

State league affiliate: East Perth (WAFL)
This weekend: East Perth v South Fremantle - Saturday August 20, 2.15pm, Medibank Stadium

On the back of his five-goal, 21-disposal game last week, Jamie Bennell was again a key performer with three goals from his 17 touches and seven marks in East Perth's four-point loss.

Bennell, who featured in just the first two games for the Eagles this season, was named among the best players alongside yet-to-debut draftee Luke Partington with 30 touches.

Defender Eric Mackenzie also performed well with 15 possessions, while fellow backman Liam Duggan had 20 disposals and booted a nice running goal in his return from a two-week calf injury.

Western Bulldogs

State league affiliate: Footscray (VFL)
This weekend: Werribee v Footscray - Sunday August 21, 12pm, Avalon Airport Oval

All eyes were on star forward Jake Stringer following his shock axing from the Bulldogs' squad. 

The 22-year-old finished with 21 disposals, nine tackles and an easy snap goal, and although he burst through a few packs, he didn't demand a senior recall in Footscray's dominant 63-point win.

Stringer's highlight came at the 25-minute mark of the final term, when he rebounded well from half-back, ran through the centre and regained possession, before delivering a long kick to a one-on-one contest in the pocket, resulting in a Footscray mark and goal.

Just minutes later, however, Stringer turned the ball over with a shanked kick inside 50, summing up his mixed afternoon.

Midfielder Mitch Honeychurch stole the show in his comeback from a hamstring complaint, using the ball well and setting up the play with his 35 disposals.

The 21-year-old capped his performance with an accurate set shot from tight on the boundary late in the game.

Experienced campaigner Jed Adcock (25 touches, one goal) was reliable, while ruckmen Will Minson (23 touches, two goals) and Tom Campbell (two goals) proved too strong for their inexperienced Kangaroos counterpart, Braydon Preuss.

It was Campbell's first game back from a foot injury.
