COLLINGWOOD is set to book Tyson Goldsack and James Aish in for hip surgery after conducting post-season medical reviews with senior players on Monday.
AFL.com.au understands Goldsack and Aish will join Taylor Adams, who had an arthroscope on his hip last week, in the end-of-year medical room.
Aish injured his hamstring in the second quarter of Sunday's match against Hawthorn, taking no further part in the game after half-time.
After an indifferent start to his first year at Collingwood, his third at AFL level after beginning his career at the Brisbane Lions, Aish improved markedly through the second half of the season.
The 20-year-old averaged 17.2 disposals from his last 10 games of the season, displaying his ability to win the footy inside and outside the contest as well as displaying his prowess in marking duels.
Goldsack had a limited preparation over pre-season after battling tendinitis in his knee. He also missed two games through illness in April.
The defender then broke his thumb in the lead-up to Anzac Day, sidelining him for three weeks.
The 29-year-old had a much better second half of the season, playing four games in total and stepping into a key defender's role when Ben Reid succumbed to the knee injury that plagued him for much of the season.
Reid (knee), Alex Fasolo (shoulder), Tim Broomhead (shoulder), Ben Sinclair (concussion), Tom Langdon (knee), Jamie Elliott (back), Jackson Ramsay (knee), Matt Scharenberg (knee) and the recently retired Dane Swan (foot) were all on the Magpies' injury list at season's end.
