AFL introduces $35 national entry level price for weeks 1-2 of Toyota AFL Finals Series 

AFL Chief Executive Mr Gillon McLachlan has today announced the introduction of a national $35 entry level ticket for weeks one and two of the 2016 Toyota AFL Finals Series. 

The price cut to entry-level tickets will be applied at all venues with fans around the country having the opportunity to purchase a finals ticket at the lowest price in some instances for up to 15 years.

AFL Chief Executive Gillon McLachlan said the $35 ticket was part of a significant pricing restructure which would see the entry level reserved seat category drop from $40 at the MCG (to the lowest price since 2001), from $40 at the Adelaide Oval, $48 at Domain Stadium, and $45 at ANZ Stadium. 

The entry level reserved seat category for preliminary finals matches has also been lowered to $65 across all venues. 

For the first time in three years, the price of other ticketing categories will rise slightly in weeks 1-3. 

“For the past two seasons we have elected to keep all prices on hold at 2013 levels, and our commitment to affordability continues with the introduction of a reduced entry level ticket in weeks 1-3,” Mr McLachlan said.

“It is reality that the costs of holding matches continues to rise and we hope the impact of increasing the price of some ticketing categories is minimised with a significantly lower national entry-level price.

“We believe the price of all seating categories represents excellent value and we expect fans to vote with their feet with and be part of one of the most open finals series in recent memory. 

“Every side in the top eight is a legitimate contender for the premiership, and regardless of who eventually progresses to the Grand Final, we are in for an enthralling month of football.”

The price of tickets in some categories for the 2016 Toyota AFL Grand Final will also increase but theentry level reserved seat price of $180 and the premium category price of $399 remain frozen at 2013 levels. 

“The Toyota AFL Grand Final is without doubt one of the premier events on the Australian sporting calendar and after freezing prices for the past two years, we have tried to minimise the impact of any increase by keeping the price of entry level seats and premium category seats on hold,” Mr McLachlan said. 

On sale dates

Week 1

Tickets to matches in Week 1 of the 2016 Toyota AFL Final Series go on sale to competing club members at 10.00am Tuesday August 30, to the general public from 12.00pm (midday) Wednesday August 31, and AFL members (MCG only) from 9.00am Wednesday August 31.  

Week 2

Tickets to matches in Week 2 of the 2016 Toyota AFL Final Series go on sale to competing club members at 9.00am Monday September 12, to the general public from 2.00pm Monday September 12 and AFL members (MCG only) from 9.00am Tuesday September 13.  

Week 3 

Tickets to matches in Week 3 of the 2016 Toyota AFL Final Series go on sale to competing club members at 9.00am Monday September 19, to the general public from 2.00pm Monday September 19 and AFL members (MCG only) from 9.00am Tuesday September 20.
