With the introduction of the AFL National Women’s League in 2017, the Brisbane Lions is looking to secure a dynamic and innovative leader to lead our Women’s Football Operations through the inaugural season and into the future. 

Our Women’s Football Chief Executive Officer (WCEO) will be instrumental in the development and integration of our Women’s team.  Our key focuses for the Women’s team are;

  • To field a competitive team in the NWL that is capable of playing finals football
  • Develop strong partnerships with the Queensland football community to increase participation and develop future leaders, coaches and administrators of women’s football
  • To be self-sustainable through innovative and viable revenue streams
  • Become a full Queensland team through development of our own talent
  • Promote gender equality and empower women

The WCEO will be focused on strategic and operational planning to deliver these results for the Club and our members.  

Reporting to the CEO and forming part of our Executive Management Team, the WCEO will have a broad understanding of the game of AFL from a sport and commercial perspective, previous people and resource management is essential as is the ability to gain the support of all stakeholders. 

The WCEO role is a wide reaching position and will not only be responsible for appointing the coaching and physical performance personnel, managing player relationships they will work with all departments at the Club to ensure the Women’s agenda stays front of mind and our Club delivers success in this area. 

The successful applicant will be forward thinking and have the tenacity to strive for success in new and developing areas.  As the season is fast approaching, we are looking for our WCEO to start as soon as possible.
