IT LOOKS like being a fairly predictable round in terms of winners and losers, but nothing's that easy to forecast in the game of Draftstars.

Geelong v Western Bulldogs, Simonds Stadium, Friday night

The Bulldogs head into Friday night's clash undermanned after several serious injuries, but that should not deter you from picking their remaining guns in your Draftstars line-up this week.

Luke Dahlhaus (FWD/MID, $14,400) returns from injury and is averaging 93 points a game, while the diminutive and damaging Caleb Daniel (FWD, $11,500) is a value bet averaging just under 80.

Zaine Cordy (DEF, $6400) comes into the side for his first game of the season but as a lockdown defender probably won't be your ideal Draftstars player against the star-studded Cats line-up. Stick with what you know with the Dogs - Jack Macrae (MID, $15,250) and Lachie Hunter (MID, $15,350) are averaging 100+ for a reason.

The Cats have recalled ruckman Zac Smith (RK, $10,500) and with an average of around 70 he could be a serviceable option.

The man to watch for Geelong will be Jimmy Bartel (DEF/MID, $13,600). The Cats champion reaches his 300-game milestone on the Friday night stage and continues to be a great Draftstars player deep into his career (he's averaged 90.4 this year).

Bartel scored 116 points last week – the second-best score of his season – and hits the occasion in good form. Back him in.

Greater Western Sydney v Richmond, Manuka Oval, Saturday

If you're keen to mix up your Draftstars contests across the weekend, then you might want to try a turbo game using this match.

Turbo Draftstars contests allow coaches to select six players from an AFL match but across six different tiers. If we were going to play the Giants-Tigers game in turbo mode, we would be locking in Dustin Martin (FWD/MID, $15,750) as the category one player.

In tier two, we would grab Dylan Shiel (MID, $14,750) from the Giants, then take a punt on Shane Mumford (RK, $13,050) in tier three. Josh Kelly (MID, $13,400) is the obvious candidate in that tier as he averages nearly 10 points more than Mumford, but against the Tigers' weaker ruck set-up Mumford could cash in.

Devon Smith (FWD, $11,400) has picked up his form in recent weeks and would be a good choice for tier four, while Richmond forward Sam Lloyd (FWD, $10,200) would be a solid choice in tier five. We like what we've seen from Oleg Markov (FWD, $8350) in his first three games, so we'll choose him in category six.

Unlike the 'salary' mode of Draftstars, where there is a tight salary cap of $100,000 to fit nine players, the turbo mode does not involve salaries. Just pick your six and hope you've got the best mix.

Hawthorn v Carlton, Aurora Stadium, Saturday

Among all of the Hawthorn stars it can be easy to overlook its group of defenders, but keep in mind Josh Gibson (DEF, $13,200). The backman scored 131 points last week and was in the highest-scoring Draftstars team of the weekend.

Another under-the-radar option could be Bradley Hill (MID, $10,550). He might be at Fremantle next year but he is worth a look for your Draftstars line-up this weekend after hitting form in the past two weeks (he has scored back-to-back triple figure scores, the only times he's passed 100 all year). He could be a savvy choice.

It's been a better year for the Blues and they almost knocked off the Sydney Swans last week. Sam Docherty (DEF, $15,250) has confirmed himself as a genuine Draftstars A-grader with an average of nearly 102 points a game.

Ex-Crows Sam Kerridge (FWD/MID, $12,250) and Matthew Wright (FWD/MID, $12,350) have been solid pick-ups for the Blues and would be for your side, while Nick Graham (MID, $12,250) has impressed and would be a unique selection that could bring in a 90+ score.

Collingwood v West Coast, MCG, Saturday

In Draftstars there are many ways to play the game and with various levels of buy-in. That's the beauty of daily fantasy sports – there's always tomorrow.

You can play in the guaranteed market, where the cash prize is locked in even if the game does not fill to its maximum level of participants. There's head-to-head battles, 'double-up' games where nearly half the entries double their money, and even a live draft process where no player can be on two teams.

Collingwood's three inclusions for its clash against West Coast – debutant Rupert Wills (MID, $8000), Ben Crocker (FWD/MID, $6250) and Jordan De Goey (MID/FWD, $11,400) – are all recent draftees to the Pies, but only De Goey should be on your radar.

Jeremy Howe (DEF/FWD, $11,850) is coming into his own at the Pies in a defensive role and is worth a look, while Jonathon Marsh (DEF, $8350) has been relatively consistent as a cheaper defensive pick-up. If you're keen on a Pie to bring you home a hundred, then Steele Sidebottom (MID, $15,800) is probably your man. He's averaging 102.

The Eagles have brought in Dom Sheed (MID/FWD, $10,000) for his first game of the season but we would steer clear of him for now. West Coast isn't the most exciting Draftstars team – only Matt Priddis (MID, $15,350) averages more than 100 – but Scott Lycett (FWD/RK, $13,250) has developed into a strong ruck pick at an OK cost.

Brisbane Lions v Port Adelaide, Gabba, Saturday night

Beyond the goalkicking theatrics it is worth looking at Rhys Mathieson (MID, $9650) as a Draftstars pick. The midfielder hunts the ball, has shown he can push forward to hit the scoreboard and has held his average at 70 points for six games. If not now, pencil in the rugged Lions midfielder as a future Draftstars pick.

Dayne Zorko (FWD/MID, $16,150) continues to average 111 points a game and put himself among the must-haves, while Mitch Robinson (FWD/MID, $13,050) is an underrated fantasy player.

Draftstars coaches can also hope that Port coach Ken Hinkley deploys the same tactic of John Worsfold and allows Daniel Rich (DEF/MID, $12,350) to roam free. Rich hit 106 points last week – his first century since round nine against Melbourne. Can he back it up?

Ollie Wines (MID, $14,650) is a premium option from Port Adelaide to fill your midfield, while Jasper Pittard (DEF, $12,700) has had a terrific season in defence and continues to average 85 a week. Chad Wingard (FWD, $11,350) has the star factor but isn't the wisest Draftstars choice with an average of just 72 points.

North Melbourne v St Kilda, Etihad Stadium, Saturday night

The whole week has been about Brent Harvey (FWD, $12,850), so it would be silly to overlook him here. Harvey lifts for the big games and big moments, and they don't come much bigger than breaking the all-time VFL/AFL games record.

Harvey has averaged 85 points this year and played every game this season. He has been building towards a big game in his 427^th appearance in North colours, pulling in 90+ scores in the past two weeks.

But St Kilda won't just let it happen. The Saints have won five of their past six games and are playing well, largely on the back of unheralded types such as Tim Membrey (FWD, $11,100), Maverick Weller (FWD/MID, $11,100) and Jack Newnes (MID, $13,150).

However, you can't look past the performances of Jack Steven (MID, $16,450). The St Kilda midfielder has elevated himself into the elite group of players this season and is worth his price, given he is averaging 110 points an outing.  

Melbourne v Gold Coast, MCG, Sunday

We're going to play this one as a turbo contest and pick our six-man squad from the Demons-Suns clash at the MCG.

The first decision is probably the easiest given all six players in the tier one category are regular high scorers. Max Gawn (RK, $15,050) gets the nod as the marquee player, and in tier two, which is dominated by forwards, we're going with Suns big man Tom Lynch (FWD, $12,350). Lynch remains in the hunt for a maiden Coleman Medal and with good supply could monster Melbourne's backline.

Christian Petracca (FWD/MID, $11,100) scored 71 points last week, is averaging 72 and is ready for his second career ton. We're grabbing him as our tier three player and backing in second-gamer Josh Schoenfeld (MID, $10,800) to follow his 85-point debut with another good performance by taking him as a fourth-tier option.

Jarrod Harbrow (DEF/MID, $10,150) joins the line-up in tier five and Melbourne mature-age pick-up Josh Wagner (DEF, $10,000) becomes the final member of the squad in tier six. With salary cap no impediment in the turbo version of Draftstars, we think overall it looks like a nicely balanced list.

Fremantle v Sydney Swans, Domain Stadium, Sunday

There hasn't been plenty to love about Fremantle from a Draftstars perspective this season. But Stephen Hill (MID, $13,350) has pieced together a solid point scoring season and is averaging 87 a game.

Behind Lachie Neale (MID, $16,300), who is among the best in the AFL with an average of 108 points, Hill sits next to Michael Walters (FWD, $12,750) as Freo's best-performed players this year. Walters scored 123 points against Gold Coast last week to be in the highest-scoring team of the round.

Tom Mitchell (MID, $15,750) could be on the move at the end of the season but at the moment he is performing beautifully for the Swans and Draftstars coaches. The midfielder is averaging 103 this season and has joined the likes of Dan Hannebery (MID, $16,100), Luke Parker (MID, $16,000) and Josh Kennedy (MID, $15,550) in the club's top echelon of scorers.

Adelaide v Essendon, Adelaide Oval, Sunday

Of the highest-scoring Draftstars team last week, two of the nine players were Brisbane Lions. The Lions trounced Essendon, so it's probably worth taking into consideration who the Bombers play each week to see if the opposition might be in for a big day.

We sense that might be the case on Sunday at Adelaide Oval for the Crows.

Adelaide's forward line will be without injured skipper Taylor Walker (FWD, $11,150), but still has the likes of Eddie Betts (FWD, $11,450), Josh Jenkins (FWD, $11,850) and Tom Lynch (FWD, $13,550) roaming around. Wayne Milera (FWD, $7650) has been added to the extended squad and could see this as a chance to produce his breakout AFL game.

Zach Merrett (FWD/MID, $16,850) continues to be Essendon's shining light in a shocking year, with the third-year midfielder the second-ranked scorer across the competition. We're used to Brendon Goddard (MID, $15,400) being a fantasy lock and he continues to score well, and Darcy Parish (MID, $10,900) has averaged 21 disposals and 73 points this season.

But be wary of taking David Zaharakis (MID, $13,650) as the Essendon midfielder is receiving more tagging attention. He has averaged just 62 in the past three rounds.
