EMERGING Melbourne superstar Jesse Hogan is unlikely to seek a trade back to Western Australia this year, but speculation about his future looks set to drag on as he weighs up a move home. 

Hogan is contracted with the Demons for next season and his manager Tom Petroro has quashed talk the 21-year-old forward could be headed to Fremantle or West Coast in next month's NAB AFL Trade Period.

"He's contracted at Melbourne and he's been really comfortable with the Dees, I can’t see that happening," Petroro said at the launch of NAB AFL Trade Radio.

The Dockers are desperate to secure a key forward and the Eagles have confirmed their interest in the 2015 NAB AFL Rising Star winner, who they have kept an eye on since he was a teenager.

Hogan has booted 85 goals in 41 games and Petroro said the "once in a generation" forward is torn between leaving the Dees when they appear on the verge of playing finals, and returning home.

"That's what Jesse would be torn between, the success that Melbourne look like they're going to have and how Melbourne have put four really good years into him and are now starting to rise, as opposed to being close to family and friends," he said.

"It's always a big decision."

Melbourne has tried to re-sign Hogan but the boom forward put talks on hold in February.

"I think Jesse floats a little bit as to where he wants to be, so it's hard to say (if he will eventually move home)," Petroro said.

Meanwhile, Petroro conceded Hawthorn speedster Bradley Hill is no certainty to get his preferred trade to Fremantle to play alongside his brother Stephen.

"That would be definitely a really big attraction to him, but Brad also understands he's contracted to Hawthorn and Hawthorn have to get what's best," he said.

The triple-premiership wingman is contracted to the Hawks until the end of 2017 and Petroro said West Coast was "still a player" in talks about Hill's future.

Delisted veteran Nick Dal Santo is still considering his future after being moved on by North Melbourne, with Collingwood in the mix for the 32-year-old.

But the 322-gamer could still decide to hang up the boots.

"Nick came out publicly last week and said if there was an opportunity for him to play he would strongly consider it," Petroro said.

"He's not dying to play, he's not hanging out to play – probably different to some of the other North guys who have (been delisted).

"Nick's got a really good career post-footy, whether that's in coaching or in media, Nick's skilled himself up really well.

"Nick and I will work through that over the coming weeks, but footy's not the be-all and end-all for him."
