HAWTHORN recruit Jack Fitzpatrick has escaped structural damage after injuring his knee in Saturday's NAB Challenge match against Richmond.
Fitzpatrick hyper-extended his knee late in the game in Beaconsfield and left the field with trainers, but the club confirmed he had only suffered bruising.
Football manager Chris Fagan said there was no timeline for his return yet, only that he would play when the bruising had settled down.
"There was no structural damage, which is a good thing," Fagan said in a statement on the club's website.
Meanwhile, Norm Smith medallist Cyril Rioli was expected to be in full training by the end of the week after sustaining a corked calf.
