GEELONG rookie Sam Menegola will make his AFL debut after being a late inclusion to replace ruckman Zac Smith, who is being managed.
After 46 touches in the VFL last Saturday he was unlucky not to be selected but the wet conditions will favour the mature-aged rookie.
The selection is reward for persistence as Menegola was on Hawthorn's list in 2011 and Fremantle's list from 2012-2014 before playing in the WAFL last season with Subiaco.
He finished third in the Sandover Medal after just 12 games and was part of Subiaco's premiership team, averaging 27 disposals for the season.
Menegola has fought injury throughout his career, often being injured during the pre-season.
He hurt his knee in the opening NAB Challenge game but has played the past six games in the VFL.
It is the first game Smith has missed for the Cats this season.
