INDIGENOUS players from Adelaide and Port Adelaide this week came together for a "brotherhood" dinner, highlighting their spirit of togetherness ahead of Sunday's Showdown.
As both clubs grieve the loss of Crows coach Phil Walsh, the Power reached out to the Adelaide players to invite them to what has become a traditional dinner for the club.
All Showdown hostilities have been cast aside this week and Port's Aboriginal programs manager Paul Vandenbergh said the club felt it could lend a hand to the grieving Crows players.
"After going through something similar a few years ago and remembering how difficult it was, we saw it as an opportunity to give our support to the boys," Vandenbergh told the club's website.
"Obviously some of our brothers knew 'Walshy' too, so they can relate to what the boys are going through.
"We reached out to Eddie (Betts) early last week to see if they wanted to join us, and he said 'absolutely'.
"That's what the brotherhood is all about – being there for each other, regardless of which colours you wear."
Adelaide and Port Adelaide will run through a joint banner before Sunday's Showdown to honour Walsh.
The clubs' respective cheer squads met on Monday night to discuss the initiative.
The Crows will enter Adelaide Oval a few minutes before the Power – each to their own theme song – but will then gather with Port in front of the eastern members stand on the wing and run through the one banner.
The game is scheduled to begin at 2.50pm (local time).
Sunday's match is expected to sell out but Adelaide has organised three big screens to broadcast the event live outside the stadium.
Fans who aren't able to secure a ticket will be able to gather in Elder Park – opposite Adelaide Oval on the city side of the River Torrens – where Channel 7's coverage will begin with The Crows Show from 1.30pm.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the site.
Meanwhile, Walsh will be remembered at a memorial service at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.
Up to 1000 people will converge at the oval for the private memorial service for Walsh, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his 26-year-old son on July 3.
Members of Walsh's family, including his wife Meredith and 22-year-old daughter Quinn, will attend the service.
Walsh's family and close friends farewelled the 55-year-old at a church funeral last Friday.
