A DEAL that would land Greater Western Sydney midfielder Adam Treloar at Collingwood is inching closer to fruition.

AFL.com.au understands the possible deal may involve the Magpies handing over two first-round draft picks, from 2015 and 2016, to the Giants in exchange for Treloar and a second-round selection.

The 22-year-old is one of the game's most promising players and has played 79 games in his four years with the Giants.

He was runner-up in the Giants best and fairest in 2015, fourth in 2014, ninth in 2013 and was a NAB AFL Rising Star in 2012.

The deal would land the Giants pick No.7 to go with their pick No.8 in this year's NAB AFL Draft, and also enable them to have two first-round picks in the first round next season.

This would give them the necessary points to claim talented Giants Academy graduates Jacob Hopper and Matt Kennedy if other clubs bid for them.

Melbourne's Jeremy Howe is likely to make a decision on his preferred destination with Collingwood favourites ahead of the Gold Coast and North Melbourne.

Howe is understood to be keen on the Magpies and there is a chance young Pie Ben Kennedy could make his way to the Demons if the two clubs are to negotiate a deal.

The Suns have turned their attention to securing Collingwood's Paul Seedsman who has also attracted interest from Adelaide, North Melbourne and, to a lesser extent, the Sydney Swans.

Gold Coast had been considering offering pick No.22 for Seedsman, but on Wednesday it traded that selection along with Harley Bennell to Fremantle in exchange for picks No.16 and 35.

The Suns remain in a strong position to snare Seedsman, however, given they now hold three picks in the top 20 (No.3, 16 and 19) and are expected to receive No.10 from Port Adelaide as part of a trade for Charlie Dixon.

Geelong triple premiership player Steve Johnson met with Greater Western Sydney on Wednesday.

The Giants have a history of securing experienced players late in their career and moving them into coaching post-football.

Several clubs are understood to be interested in Johnson's coaching credentials but are still making a determination on what his playing future may look like.

Hawthorn's Jed Anderson has a queue of clubs interested in him with the Hawks open to a trade, while veteran Eagle Matt Rosa has informed the Eagles he is interested in exploring a trade.

Several clubs are understood to be interested in speaking to the 28-year-old, who was the substitute in this season's Grand Final.

The Lions have yet to decide whether they will match Essendon's offer for restricted free agent Matthew Leuenberger, and have until Thursday afternoon to do so.

Richmond has indicated to the Lions it will consider trading key defender David Astbury to the Gabba, but only for (a) pick No.21 on its own; or (b) pick No.17, with the Tigers to pass No.31 back to the Lions.

The Lions received pick No.17 from West Coast for Jack Redden, and Richmond could eye it as a possible circuit-breaker as it attempts to satisfy Carlton's demands for Chris Yarran.

Contracted North Melbourne forward Aaron Black remains interested in a move to Fremantle, but will have to decide whether to pursue interest from other clubs if looming trade talks between the Roos and Dockers prove unproductive.

The Dockers' No.1 key forward target remains Giant Cam McCarthy, although Greater Western Sydney has shown no signs it will budge on its pledge not to trade McCarthy, who is contracted for the next two seasons.

McCarthy's manager, Colin Young, recently said that Freo was prepared to trade both its 2015 and 2016 first-round picks for his client, but the Dockers parted with this year's first-round pick (No.16) on Wednesday as part of the Bennell deal.

Delisted Western Bulldog Sam Darley could find a third AFL home after recent interest from some Victorian clubs.

The running defender crossed to the Bulldogs from Greater Western Sydney in the 2013 trade period after playing 13 games in the Giants' first two seasons in the AFL.

One of the Giants' original 17-year-old access selections, Darley played seven games in his two seasons at the Whitten Oval, including just two in 2015, as he struggled to break into a Bulldogs' defence boasting Robert Murphy, Easton Wood and Matthew Boyd.

Hawthorn utility Brendan Whitecross remains on the Brisbane Lions' radar, but another rival suitor is believed to have emerged for the 25-year-old unrestricted free agent.
