ADELAIDE
The Crows made it through their physical contest against Melbourne at the weekend without injury, meaning coach Phil Walsh won't be forced into making any changes. Debutant Jake Kelly was terrific – setting a record for tackles (10) by a debutant. However, gun midfield pair Matt Crouch and Jarryd Lyons continue to pressure the selection panel, as they did for much of last season. Lyons was outstanding in the SANFL with 27 possessions, five tackles, seven clearances and two goals, while Crouch had 28 disposals and five clearances. Matt's older brother Brad remains about a month away from a competitive return after breaking his foot.  Harry Thring

BRISBANE LIONS
Coach Justin Leppitsch suggested there would be more changes ahead of Sunday's match against West Coast after the Lions were thumped by Richmond last start. Captain Tom Rockliff (ribs and lung) and fullback Daniel Merrett (hamstring) are racing the clock to be fit and would add much needed experience. Ruckman Matthew Leuenberger responded well to being dropped, dominating in the NEAFL, but it's hard to see Leppitsch reverting after just one week. Zac O'Brien could be in line for another call-up after dominating in the reserves, while young half-back Tom Cutler is also nearing some senior action.  Michael Whiting

Nine things we learned from round three

CARLTON
The Blues are likely to be forced to make at least one change to the team that lost to Essendon last Saturday. Running defender Chris Yarran is set to be suspended by the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night for striking Bomber Paul Chapman. They may also be without Michael Jamison for the game in Wellington, after the vice-captain injured his shoulder during last Saturday’s game. Blaine Boekhorst, the Blues’ first-round pick at last year’s NAB AFL Draft, staked his claim for an AFL debut last Saturday. In a polished display the mature-aged recruit collected 25 possessions in the VFL opener. Experienced ruckman Robert Warnock, coming back from a shoulder injury, was also one of the best in the VFL, along with Jason Tutt (28 possessions, three goals), Mark Whiley (28, one goal) and Nick Graham (27, one goal).  Howard Kotton

COLLINGWOOD
Although swingman Ben Reid continues to struggle with soft-tissue problems, the Magpies' depleted midfield could receive a welcome boost with the possible return of Taylor Adams for the Anzac Day blockbuster against Essendon. Both of Collingwood's prized draftees, Jordan De Goey and the uncapped Darcy Moore, staked strong claims for promotion in the VFL, being among the Pies' best in inclement conditions in Sunday's loss to North Ballarat at Eureka Stadium. Jarrod Witts also gave selectors food for thought after outplaying former Geelong and Richmond ruckman Orren Stephenson. Alex Fasolo contributed two of the VFL team's six goals to ensure he remains in the frame. - Ben Collins

ESSENDON
The Bombers will need to make at least one change to replace Adam Cooney, who will miss at least three weeks with a hamstring strain suffered in Essendon's win over Carlton on Saturday. Jackson Merrett could get the call-up to add some pace after having a solid game at VFL level on Sunday, while Courtenay Dempsey will also be a chance having performed well in the state league. David Zaharakis is in doubt with a knee injury, but the midfielder still holds out some hope of playing on Anzac Day. Jake Carlisle will also be monitored with a sore hip flexor. Tayte Pears and Jonathan Giles were goal kickers in the VFL and may be ready if a tall drops out of the senior team. Hard and tough midfielder Will Hams is another who continues to press his case for a senior position, while Kyle Langford has been close to a senior debut in the opening three rounds. – Callum Twomey

FREMANTLE
The Dockers are in irresistible form and did not suffer any injury issues in the win over West Coast. Key defenders Zac Dawson and Alex Silvagni are still unavailable and Hayden Ballantyne has another week to serve of his suspension. Tendai Mzungu is pushing as hard as he can for a spot, dominating for Peel Thunder last week with 27 touches and nine tackles. Youngster Connor Blakely remains in the frame with 23 touches for Peel. Jon Griffin is ready to play if either Aaron Sandilands or Zac Clarke has any injury concerns. Griffin had 32 hit-outs and 17 touches in the WAFL. Ross Lyon has also said that young defenders Alex Pearce and Brady Grey are ready to go if need be. Jack Hannath and Max Duffy were both held over as emergencies last Sunday, but those in the selected 22 aren't willing to give up their spot. - Alex Malcolm

GEELONG
Geelong will need to make several changes in the wake of round three with Jimmy Bartel (medial ligament) and Mathew Stokes (ankle) almost certain to miss and Tom Lonergan (concussion) doubtful for the clash against North Melbourne at Simonds Stadium. Andrew Mackie also remains unlikely with a quad strain and no decision is expected on Tom Hawkins availability until later in the week. Jared Rivers played VFL on Friday night and could earn a recall given his experience in defence. Dean Gore and Jake Kolodjashnij might debut after consistent VFL form. Sam Blease won the ball in the VFL outside the contest and Billie Smedts is likely to return from suspension via the VFL. - Peter Ryan

GOLD COAST
With a heavily undermanned team against Geelong last week, Gold Coast put in its best performance of the season, so it's unlikely coach Rodney Eade will make many changes for Saturday's match against GWS in Canberra. Hulking forward Charlie Dixon played his first game in the NEAFL after a long layoff with an ankle injury, and will likely need another week of match conditioning before returning to the seniors. – Michael Whiting

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY
Will Hoskin-Elliott returned early from a pre-season shoulder injury and was a star, with five goals in the Giants’ reserves big win over the Swans. Defenders Curtly Hampton and Adam Kennedy found plenty of the ball, while Tim Mohr again put his hand up with a solid display. Academy product Jack Steele continues to improve and finished a good day out with 21 touches and 10 tackles playing through the midfield. - Adam Curley

HAWTHORN
Bradley Hill is set to inject some more pace and class into Hawthorn's side for Saturday's clash against Port Adelaide. The speedy wingman was held back as a precaution from last week's win over the Western Bulldog while he was still suffering some effects of having his head whacked into the MCG turf in round three. The Hawks escaped without any serious injury concerns from the Dogs clash, but will keep an eye on Cyril Rioli (shoulder) and Paul Puopolo (corked leg) this week. There are multiple back-up options if required, including Jonathan O'Rourke, Alex Woodward, James Sicily, Jonathan Simpkin and Angus Litherland. – Travis King

MELBOURNE
Melbourne will be forced to make at least one change for Friday night's clash with Richmond at the MCG, with defender Sam Frost to miss up to a month with a broken toe. Ruckman Max Gawn looms as the most likely replacement, given his ability to provide support in the ruck and spend time up forward. The Demons, who are set to play their first Friday night game since 2012, may also decide to inject  more run into the team that was beaten by Adelaide by 25 points. If that is the case, Jack Grimes, Matt Jones, Viv Michie or Rohan Bail may come into the selection mix after impressing for the Casey Scorpions in recent weeks. – Ben Guthrie

NORTH MELBOURNE
North will be sweating on the fitness of key midfielders Daniel Wells (Achilles tendon soreness) and Jack Ziebell (bruised lungs) ahead of Sunday's clash against Geelong. Ziebell, in particular, looks a long shot to play against the Cats, meaning there is likely to be at least one opening for a North midfielder. Leadership group member Jamie Macmillan (Achilles) could return from injury, while Trent Dumont (25 disposals, 11 tackles and five clearances) put his hand up for a senior debut in North Ballarat's win over Collingwood's VFL team last Sunday. Brad McKenzie (18 disposals) was also good for the Roosters, his sure ball use outstanding on a wet and windy day. Aaron Black's work-rate was also impressive on a difficult day for forwards but he will probably have to wait a little longer for a senior recall as Drew Petrie, Jarrad Waite and Ben Brown hold down North's key forward posts. Majak Daw is in a similar boat but he kept his name in the selectors' minds with a strong game in Werribee's loss to Geelong's VFL team last Friday. Alternating between attack and the ruck, Daw had 17 disposals, eight marks and 10 hit-outs. Lachlan Hansen (hips) has yet to play a game at any level this season and is likely to return via the VFL. - Nick Bowen

PORT ADELAIDE
Yet again, the Power will be sweating on the fitness of star ruckman Matthew Lobbe. The big man has missed the opening three rounds with a quad strain and his side desperately needs his services against Hawthorn on Saturday night. They'll certainly miss the strength at stoppages of Ollie Wines, who'll be out for at least a month with a wrist injury. Matt White is also touch and go with an ankle injury. Port has midfield depth ready to step up though - Aaron Young was impressive against North Melbourne and could handle an increased role, while Andrew Moore starred in the SANFL with 26 possessions, 10 clearances and two goals. Paul Stewart is also in great touch and collected 31 disposals and a goal alongside Moore. – Harry Thring

RICHMOND
It could be an interesting game of cat and mouse at selection this week as the Tigers consider an extra tall to stretch the Demons' backline, which is in form but now without Sam Frost (toe). Ty Vickery returned from a knee injury in the VFL and kicked three goals, so he could return as a second ruckman and a third tall forward, giving Ivan Maric the support he needs and allowing in-form tall Ben Griffiths to stay in attack. Ben Lennon, who was also among the best players with the VFL Tigers, shapes as the most likely replacement for luckless half-forward Chris Knights (hamstring). Lennon has been used across half-forward and half-back at different stages, giving him the versatility to come in and play the role required. Vice-captain Brett Deledio (calf) is only a 50-50 chance to return after missing two matches. – Nathan Schmook

ST KILDA
Captain Nick Riewoldt (calf) and veteran midfielder Leigh Montagna (knee) both face fitness tests on Wednesday to determine whether they will travel to New Zealand on Thursday morning. First-year half-forward Jack Lonie is likely to be available after jarring his knee against Collingwood on Friday night. If the Saints make other changes to face Carlton they would be turning to youth, with Darren Minchington (19 disposals and one goal), Josh Saunders (21) and Tom Curren (20) all options with strong VFL form behind them. Blake Acres and Daniel McKenzie had quieter games with Sandringham and appear less likely to be considered. Ruckman Tom Hickey is being kept out by the strong form of Billy Longer, but he could earn selection if the Saints opt for a tall presence to rotate forward without Riewoldt. Tom Lee has been playing well in defence and was best on ground for Sandringham at the weekend, so he could always be called on to play forward.
– Nathan Schmook

SYDNEY SWANS
Adam Goodes will be the name on everyone's lips come selection at the Swans this week, but has he done enough to earn an immediate recall from the NEAFL? The dual Brownlow medallist collected 29 possessions, six clearances and booted three goals in a side well beaten by the Giants’ reserves, but more importantly saw plenty of game time. Brandon Jack and Tom Mitchell were again among their side's best but finding a spot in the senior side might be tough to come by this week. - Adam Curley

WEST COAST
The Eagles’ injury toll continues to mount. Jeremy McGovern was subbed out of the loss to Fremantle with a knee injury and although it doesn't appear too serious, and his coach remains hopeful he could play this weekend, he is likely to miss at least a couple of weeks. The cupboard of key defenders is bare. Youngster Tom Barrass made his WAFL debut last Saturday and played well gathering 16 touches and nine marks, but it would be a big ask to play in the AFL this week. Back-up ruckmen/forwards Callum Sinclair and Fraser McInnes were also given defensive assignments in the WAFL to try and prepare them for potential roles with West Coast. Both acquitted themselves reasonably well. The one who must play this week is midfielder Brant Colledge. He had 38 touches and kicked 2.2 and has averaged 34 disposals and two goals in each of his past three WAFL games. He is a strong inside midfielder who can push forward. Kane Lucas gathered 24 touches and kicked a goal for East Perth while Jamie Bennell was an emergency last week, but the Eagles need talls rather than smalls in defence. - Alex Malcolm

WESTERN BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs will have to make at least two changes for Sunday's clash with Adelaide, with both Dale Morris (pectoral) and Mitch Wallis (back) picking up serious injuries in the loss to Hawthorn.  Fletcher Roberts or Joel Hambling loom as a replacement for Morris after strong performances in the VFL. The midfield is likely to bolstered by the return of Marcus Bontempelli and Matthew Boyd, who were both late withdrawals on the weekend with calf complaints. Brett Goodes once again had limited impact as the sub while Ayce Cordy will be nervous after another quiet outing. Tom Campbell, Jack Redpath and Lachie Hunter are ready replacements if Luke Beveridge makes changes. – Ryan Davidson
