Eagle Lucas gets chance to impress against All Stars
Ex-Blue will be out to impress when he lines up for the Eagles
WEST Coast recruit Kane Lucas will get his first chance to impress at his second club after he was selected in a 26-man squad to take on the Indigenous All Stars on Friday night.
Lucas, who was given a second chance as a rookie after he was delisted by Carlton last year, is one of 10 Eagles selected who have never represented the club.
The 23-year-old could press his claims in an understrength midfield, with regulars Scott Selwood (ankle), Luke Shuey, Matt Priddis and Matt Rosa missing.
Irish rookie Paddy Brophy, who has impressed since joining the club, could also be unveiled after being named in the squad.
New draftees Tom Lamb and Jackson Nelson have been included as well as father-son selection Alec Waterman.
Midfielder Chris Masten will captain the Eagles against the All Stars, who will be led by Hawthorn's dual premiership star Shaun Burgoyne.
The All Stars have also named a young squad, with brothers Stephen and Bradley Hill the headline acts.
Exciting Gold Coast midfielder Jack Martin has also been named alongside Sydney Swans speedster Lewis Jetta, who believes the All Stars will play a brand of football that just comes naturally to them.
"We'll just go out there and play our style of footy and that's excitement, just grabbing the ball, running, taking off and just playing like we grew up playing footy," Jetta said.
Not named in the squad were stars Cyril Rioli, Adam Goodes, Paddy Ryder, Chad Wingard and Michael Walters, with Lance Franklin withdrawn last week.
Despite not being selected to play, Adam Goodes was heavily involved in the clinic. Picture: AFL Media
