FORGOTTEN Carlton tall Matthew Kreuzer could return from injury this weekend in the VFL, Blues football manager Andrew McKay says.

Kreuzer missed all bar one game last season with right foot fractures and suffered another break in the same foot in February after being a standout track performer for much of the 2015 pre-season.

Kreuzer will have to pass a fitness test later this week to play for the Northern Blues against Sandringham this Sunday.

But McKay told carltonfc.com.au on Tuesday that Kreuzer was a "really good chance" to do so.

"He's been training well, (we're) looking forward to Matthew getting back on the playing track and getting some games under his belt before he's right for senior selection," McKay said.

"Matthew will probably need two weeks I imagine at Northern Blues level before we consider him at senior level.

"He just needs a little bit more game fitness."

McKay also said Chris Judd would be "fine" to return for Mick Malthouse's record-breaking 715th coaching game against Collingwood on Friday night, with the star midfielder having overcome the "stiff back and hamstring" that sidelined him from the Blues' win over St Kilda in Wellington on Anzac Day.

The Blues footy boss also expects Troy Menzel (calf) to pass a fitness test ahead of the Pies clash.
