• Statement from Gillon McLachlan on round 14

PATRICK Dangerfield and Taylor Walker have led a chorus of Crows to express their devastation at the passing of Phil Walsh.

The Adelaide superstars were among a host of Crows players to take to social media on Friday afternoon to articulate their heartbreak and sense of loss over the tragedy.

Walker, appointed captain by Walsh at the start of his tenure, was particularly emotional.

He posted a pic of the pair together on Instagram, and said: "A bloke that I learnt so much off in such little time.. You have left a foot print on my life, I fell in love with you as a bloke and I'll forever think of you Phil!! Love you Walshman.... RIP"

Dangerfield did likewise, penning a message on Instagram to accompany a picture of him and Walsh together.

"Words cannot express the sorrow and disbelieve (sic). What Phil Walsh has done for our football club in such a short period of time is truly astonishing," Dangerfield said.

"Elite standards on and off the field. Phil led and we followed. His standards and philosophies will forever guide all those who knew him. I feel blessed to have known Phil Walsh and I am a better person because of him #RIPWalshy #WeFlyasOne"

Brodie Smith posted a pic of a smiling Walsh from his Instagram account.

"Passionate, caring and committed to getting the best out of those around you. A fantastic coach and an even better person," Smith wrote.

"You will be greatly missed but your elite standards and values will be with us forever. I am privileged to have played under you. RIP Walshy"

The tributes from Walsh's players continued to pour in.

Sam Jacobs, Josh Jenkins and Rory Laird have all taken to Twitter with their own tributes.
