RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick has backed Reece Conca and Ben Griffiths to play a part in the Tigers' elimination final against North Melbourne at the MCG by naming the pair despite limited preparations.
Conca hasn't played since round 19 and has run out for just two AFL games this season because of persistent hamstring problems.
Griffiths hasn't played at any level since round 17 after surgery to repair a torn tendon in his finger.
Second-year pair Ben Lennon and Sam Lloyd are the players to make way for the returning pair.
Conca famously broke down with a hamstring tendon injury in the opening stages of the Tigers' 2013 elimination final loss to Carlton.
The skilful midfielder will start on the interchange bench while Griffiths has been named on the field.
Steve Morris, who was tipped as a handy inclusion to curb the influence of Lindsay Thomas, joins Lennon and Lloyd as emergencies.
Thomas is one of 10 inclusions for the Kangaroos, after they rested a number of players last week.
They will welcome back Nick Dal Santo, Jarrad Waite, Michael Firrito, Andrew Swallow, Shaun Higgins, Todd Goldstein, Sam Wright, Ben Cunnington and Scott Thompson for Sunday's do-or-die clash.
While Kayne Turner will miss with the nasty concussion he sustained last week against the Tigers, the Roos have omitted a raft of players to make way for those returning.
Joel Tippett, Majak Daw, Aaron Black, Brad McKenzie, Mason Wood, Trent Dumont, Ryan Bastinac, Luke McDonald and Aaron Mullett have missed out on selection.
Bastinac, McDonald and Mullett are the Roos' emergencies.
